This article aims to contribute a better understanding of investigative journalism by proposing multi-step method for identifying pieces, despite the genre’s blurred definition. uses internal criteria observable in texts themselves, regardless their author, awards received, label, or discourses about them. Based on literature review, an exploratory analysis and practical testing, we claim that ...

Neurology® Clinical Practice 2010;75(Suppl 1):S2–S8 Improved understanding of the differential diagnosis and improved investigative techniques, particularly neuroimaging and serologic testing, have facilitated the diagnosis of patients with acute and subacute myelopathy and reduced the proportion of patients who are labeled as having “idiopathic transverse myelitis.” Additionally, these advance...
AIM Time is an essential part of human reality. Taking into consideration existence as a mechanism of regulation, it was attempted to explain connections between the temporal perspective and some coefficients of psychological functioning of people with somatic diseases. It was based on the hypothesis that participation in therapy of an incurable disease is a factor, which may cause some changes...
The value of gallium ((67)Ga) scanning in the diagnosis of septic disease of bone or joint was assessed in 34 patients. The results show a sensitivity of 60 per cent and specificity of 64 per cent. The low accuracy of this method for the detection of bone and joint sepsis (62 per cent) means that gallium scanning can be used only as an adjunct to other investigative techniques.
Cyber-crime is becoming alarmingly common through the use of anonymous e-mails. Author attribution helps digital forensics investigators filter through a large set of possible authors and focus traditional investigative techniques on the most probable culprits. A recent promising technique is to construct a write-print for each known author and compare it to the write-print extracted from the a...
BACKGROUND The need of an early and noninvasive diagnosis of AD requires the development of imagingbased techniques. As an alternative, the magnetic resonance image (MRI) relaxation time constant (T1ρ) was measured in brains of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), mild-cognitive impairment (MCI), and age-matched controls in order to determine whether T1ρ values correlated with the neurological diagnosis. ...
Fingerprinting techniques are receiving widespread attention in the field of information security. In this paper we argue that they may be of specific interest for the field of network forensics. In three case studies, we explore the use of fingerprinting techniques to improve and extend current investigative methods and showcase why fingerprinting allows for more target-oriented investigations...
In 1971 DoCarmo and Wallach gave a lower bound for the dimension of the space of minimal immersions between spheres and they believed that the lower estimate was sharp. We give here a different approach using conformal fields and eigenmaps; determine the exact dimension of this space and conclude that their conjecture is true.
