RoboCup simulated soccer presents many challenges to reinforcement learning methods, including a large state space, hidden and uncertain state, multiple agents, and long and variable delays in the e ects of actions. We describe our application of episodic SMDP Sarsa( ) with linear tile-coding function approximation and variable to learning higher-level decisions in a keepaway subtask of RoboCup...

in this investigation the effect of external field on the electron density of nanostructures of cds, cdse, cdte, gaas and polymeric structure of three, four, five and six units of cds as a kind of nanosolar cells has been studied theoretically. as modeling this system in nanodimension, molecular structures has used. specific properties of molecular structures permit us to consider different sym...

In this paper, a real-coded genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed capable of simultaneously optimizing the structure of a system (number of inputs, membership functions and rules) and tuning the parameters that de®ne the fuzzy system. A multideme GA system is used in which various fuzzy systems with di€erent numbers of input variables and with di€erent structures are jointly optimized. Communicati...

If the desired signal is uncorrelated with incoming interference signals, a linearly constrained adaptive array successfully estimates the desired signal by reducing the interference signals [1]. If the desired signal is correlated partially or totally (i.e., coherent) with the interference signals, the desired signal is partially or totally cancelled in the array output depending on the extent...

We consider linear programming (continuous or integer) where some matrix entries are decision parameters. If the variables are nonnegative the problem can be easily solved in two phases. It is shown that direct costs on the matrix entries make the problem NP-hard. Finally a strong duality result is provided.

This work is devoted to the study of solutions around an α-singular point x0 ∈ [a, b] for linear fractional differential equations of the form [Lnα(y)](x) = g(x, α), where [Lnα(y)](x) = y(nα)(x)+ n−1 ∑ k=0 ak(x)y (kα)(x) with α ∈ (0, 1]. Here n ∈ N , the real functions g(x) and ak(x) (k = 0, 1, . . . , n−1) are defined on the interval [a, b], and y(nα)(x) represents sequential fractional deriva...

The treatment effects literature is about how some outcome of interest, such as earnings, is affected by some treatment, such as a job training program. Evidently such treatment effects must be related to structural models, where the outcome of interest is the left hand side variable and the treatment is a right-hand side variable. Indeed, as we will see, treatment effects can be thought of as ...
