This report is of a 54 year old female with omental liposarcoma. Diagnosis was made by ultrasonography, computed tomography, angiography and operation. The patient was treated by surgical excision. The histological examination revealed that the tumour was round cell liposarcoma. This is the first report to our knowledge of round cell liposarcoma of the omentum.

Primary mesenteric liposarcoma is a rare malignant tumour of mesenchymal origin. Under the MeSH classification, mesenteric liposarcoma appears to be classified with retroperitoneal neoplasms. Two synchronous mesenteric liposarcomas must be very unusual. We report a rare case of double mesenteric liposarcoma in a 66-year-old female patient. She was treated with wide surgical resection alone with...

Liposarcoma is a rare mesenchymal malignant tumor, which usually originates in the retroperitoneum and the extremities. Seven cases of primary liposarcoma of the liver have been previously reported. We present the eighth case, which occurred in an adult female patient. Primary liposarcoma of the liver, although extremely rare, must be considered in the differential diagnosis of a hepatic mass t...

Liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma. With its various subtypes, the natural history of this disease can vary significantly from a locally recurrent tumor to a highly malignant one carrying a poor prognosis. Progress in the understanding of the specific molecular abnormalities in liposarcoma provides greater opportunity for new treatment modalities. Although surgical resection and...

Liposarcoma originating in the heart is extraordinarily rare. Herein, we report a dedifferentiated liposarcoma arising from the left atrium in a 59-year-old Chinese man. Histologically, the neoplasm predominantly consisted of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. In addition, the neoplasm exhibited lipoblastic differentiation and osteo-/chondrosarcomatous components. Immunohistochemically, the ...

Background. Liposarcoma is the second most common soft tissue sarcoma affecting predominantly the retroperitoneal space and extremities. Mesenteric liposarcoma is uncommon and occurs in the small bowel mesentery. In this paper we report the case of a recurrent mesocolon myxoid liposarcoma manifesting 6 years from the initial right hemicolectomy for the primary tumour. Case Report. A 41-year-old...

Although esophageal liposarcoma is an extremely rare tumor, liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in adults. Liposarcoma is currently classified into the types of well-differentiated, myxoid, round cell, pleomorphic and dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Up to now only a few cases of esophagus liposarcoma have been described in the world literature. We describe a myxoid type liposarcoma...

Liposarcoma remains the most common mesenchymal cancer, with a mortality rate of 60% among patients with this disease. To address the present lack of therapeutic options, we embarked upon a study of microRNA (miRNA) expression alterations associated with liposarcomagenesis with the goal of exploiting differentially expressed miRNAs and the gene products they regulate as potential therapeutic ta...

Liposarcomas are common tumors arising in the retroperitoneum. However, a primary mesenteric liposarcoma is a rare entity and less than 50 cases have been reported so far. Further, a liposarcoma arising in the transverse mesocolon is very unusual, and cases of multiple primary tumors arising from the transverse mesocolon are extremely rare. We want to report a case of a multiple primary mesente...

We report a case of mediastinal liposarcoma, recurrent after 20 years. A 58-year-old man who presented with dyspnea on exertion was found to have a large mediastinal tumor in chest computed tomography (CT), and he was referred to our hospital. He had undergone an extirpation of a mediastinal liposarcoma about 20 years earlier, and we suspected its recurrence. Because the tumor was very large, i...
