We study proximity-induced superconductivity on the surface of a topological insulator (TI), focusing on unconventional pairing. We find that the excitation spectrum becomes gapless for any spin-triplet pairing, such that both subgap bound states and Andreev reflection is strongly suppressed. For spin-singlet pairing, the zero-energy surface state in the d(xy)-wave case becomes a Majorana fermi...

There are Poincare group representations on complex Hilbert spaces, like the Dirac spinor field, or real Hilbert spaces, like the electromagnetic field tensor. The Majorana spinor is an element of a 4 dimensional real vector space. The Majorana spinor field is a space-time dependent Majorana spinor, solution of the free Dirac equation. The Majorana-Fourier and Majorana-Hankel transforms of Majo...

We evaluate the current distribution for a single-electron transistor with intermediate strength tunnel conductance. Using the Schwinger-Keldysh approach and the drone (Majorana) fermion representation, we account for the renormalization of system parameters. Nonequilibrium effects induce a lifetime broadening of the charge-state levels, which suppress large current fluctuations.

Exploiting the peculiar properties of proximity-induced superconductivity on the surface of a topological insulator, we propose a device, which allows the creation of a Majorana fermion inside the core of a pinned Abrikosov vortex. The relevant Bogolyubov-de Gennes equations are studied analytically. We demonstrate that in this system the zero-energy Majorana-fermion state is separated by a lar...

In this paper, we present solutions to the fermion mass hierarchy problem in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard theory augmented by an anomalous family–dependent U(1)X symmetry. The latter is spontaneously broken by non–zero vevs of a pair of singlet fields whose magnitude is determined through the D– and F–flatness conditions of the superpotential. We derive the general solutio...

We investigate the fate of non-supersymmetric Gross-Neveu-Yukawa fixed point found by Fei et al in $4-\epsilon$ dimensions with a two-component Majorana fermion continued to two dimensions. Assuming that it is fermionic minimal model which possesses chiral $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry (in addition number parity) and just relevant singlet operators, we can zero on four candidates. further least defor...

Majorana fermions are zero-energy quasiparticles that may exist in superconducting vortices and interfaces, but their detection is problematic since they have no charge. This is an obstacle to the realization of topological quantum computation, which relies on Majorana fermions to store qubits in a way which is insensitive to decoherence. We show how a pair of neutral Majorana fermions can be c...

We consider $1+1$ dimensional Yang-Mills theory with gauge group $G$ coupled to a massive Majorana fermion field in an adjoint representation and number of massless Dirac or fermions transforming arbitrary representations the $G$. It is shown that spectrum sector this becomes supersymmetric at particular mass fermion. This independent detailed structure model depends only on integer $k$ measuri...
