Land surface temperature (LST) is a significant parameter for many applications. Many studies have proposedvarious algorithms, such as the split-window method, for retrieving surface temperatures from two spectrallyadjacent thermal infrared bands of satellite data. Each algorithm is developed for a limited study area andapplication. In this paper, as part of developing an optimal split-window m...

[1] A major limitation in predicting the ultraviolet-B (UVB) irradiance on organisms is the difficulty in determining the UVB under partly cloudy sky conditions. This study developed models for estimating the diffuse fraction of ultraviolet-A (UVA) and UVB radiation under partly cloudy skies based on National Weather Service (NWS) cloud cover measurements and Department of Agriculture (USDA) UV...

The Data Assimilation Research Testbed (DART) has been extended to be able assimilate the column-average dry-air mole fraction of CO2 (XCO2) retrievals from Orbiting Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO-2) satellite. Atmospheric concentrations over Midwestern United States were estimated by Weather and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem), without assimilating OCO-2 extended-DART. To focus ...

This study proposes an improved approach for monitoring the spatial concentrations of hourly particulate matter less than 2.5 ?m in diameter (PM2.5) via a deep neural network (DNN) using geostationary ocean color imager (GOCI) images and unified model (UM) reanalysis data over Korean Peninsula. The DNN performance was optimized to determine appropriate training structures, incorporating hyperpa...

–The aim of this paper is to evaluate the quality of object oriented modules. In this work neural network approach is used along with PSO (particle swarm optimization) to find out fault prone components of software. The evaluation measures used are Accuracy, MAE (Mean absolute error), RMSE (Root mean square error) and the results are calculated on different iterations. The Accuracy, MAE, RMSE i...

An approach was evaluated for the retrieval of soil moisture of bare soil surface using bistatic scatterometer data in the angular range of 200 to 700 at VVand HHpolarization. The microwave data was acquired by specially designed X-band (10 GHz) bistatic scatterometer. The linear regression analysis was done between scattering coefficients and soil moisture content to select the suitable incide...

response surface methodology (rsm) is a statistical method useful in the modeling and analysis of problems in which the response variable receives the influence of several independent variables, in order to determine which are the conditions under which should operate these variables to optimize a corrugated box production process. the purpose of this research is to create response surface mode...

In radar signature analysis, the root mean square (RMS) surface slope is utilized to assess the relative contribution of multiple scattering effects. For an exponentially correlated surface, an effective RMS slope can be determined by truncating the high frequency tail of the roughness spectrum. The choice of the cutoff frequency and the effect on surface scattering simulations are discussed.

Accurately estimating software effort is probably the biggest challenge facing software developers. Estimates done at the proposal stage has high degree of inaccuracy, where requirements for the scope are not defined to the lowest details, but as the project progresses and requirements are elaborated, accuracy and confidence on estimate increases. It is important to choose the right software ef...

The Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) generates one of the few global satellite radiation products. The CERES ARM Validation Experiment (CAVE) has been providing long-term in situ observations for the validation of the CERES products. However, the number of these sites is low and their distribution is globally sparse, and particularly the surface net radiation product has not...
