In this work, nanocomposites were developed and evaluated using high-density bio polyethylene (BPEAD)/Cloisite 20A (3 6%)/commercial antimicrobial additive (0,5 1%) containing 1% of zinc pyrithione dispersed in vinyl acetate (EVA). The samples prepared a single screw extruder the melt intercalation technique then by flat extrusion to obtain films. X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed an increase basa...
ZnMg and NbCl5 were intercalated in graphite and the presence of such molecules between the graphene sheets results in nand p-type doping, respectively. The doping effect is confirmed by Hall and Raman measurements and the intercalation process is monitored by scanning tunneling microscopy. After intercalation the carrier concentration increase almost an order of magnitude and reaches values as...
PURPOSE To report a case of corneal melting in a patient with fornix foreshortening being treated with reformulated generic diclofenac. METHODS Case report. RESULTS An asymptomatic 76-year old man presented with central corneal melting while being treated with reformulated generic diclofenac. This formulation did not contain the vitamin E derivative, tocophersolan, which has been felt to co...
We present the case of a young male that suffered from fungal corneal abscess and corneal melting. The patient was treated successfully by corneal cross-linking. Taking into account our experience from this case, we offer to consider corneal cross-linking as a therapeutic option in cases of fungal keratitis.
Although it is well-known that TiO2 incorporation can greatly improve the cyclic stability of V2O5, the influences of TiO2 addition on the Li+ intercalation properties of V2O5 remain an issue of debate in literature. In this paper, we report on a systematic investigation of the preparation and intercalation properties of V2O5-TiO2 mixture films. The present work demonstrates that high Li+ inter...
Sentences in Dutch can be interrupted in various ways. We will use the term intercalation for interruptions by the speaker/writer that occur within the boundaries of a sentence without influencing this sentence (cf. de Groot 1949). The sentence (the host sentence or host) continues after the intercalation as if the intercalation were not there; the syntactic structure and the intonation pattern...
Nucleotide flipping is a common feature of DNA-modifying enzymes that allows access to target sites within duplex DNA. Structural studies have identified many intercalating amino acid side chains in a wide variety of enzymes, but the functional contribution of these intercalating residues is poorly understood. We used site-directed mutagenesis and transient kinetic approaches to dissect the ene...
many anticancer drugs in clinical use interact with dna through intercalation, which is process that starts with the transfer of the intercalating molecule from an aqueous environment to the hydrophobic space between two adjacent dna base pairs. in general, intercalatig agents are two types: monofunctional and bifunctional. monofunctional intercalators contain one intercalating unit and bifunct...
We have analyzed cell behavior in the organizer region of the Xenopus laevis gastrula by making high resolution time-lapse recordings of cultured explants. The dorsal marginal zone, comprising among other tissues prospective notochord and somitic mesoderm, was cut from early gastrulae and cultured in a way that permits high resolution microscopy of the deep mesodermal cells, whose organized int...
Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) inside a glove box was used for the in situ visualization of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formation as well as Li-ion intercalation and de-intercalation on anatase TiO2 based paste electrodes.
