The epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been postulated as a mechanism by which cancer cells acquire the invasive and stem-like traits necessary for distant metastasis. However, direct in vivo evidence for the role of EMT in the formation of cancer stem–like cells (CSC) and the metastatic cascade remains lacking. Here we report the first isolation and characterization of mesenchymal-lik...

Benign mesenchymoma is a soft tissue neoplasm that contains 2 or more mature mesenchymal tissues in addition to fibrous tissue. A rare case of gingival benign mesenchymoma in a 53- year- old man is presented and the clinicopathologic characteristics of this uncommon tumor in the head and neck region is reviewed and discussed.

odontogenic tumors are derived from epithelial, ectomesenchymal and/or mesenchymal elements that are or have been a part of the tooth-forming apparatus. of all the odontogenic tumors, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor accounts for 1% of the cases. approximately 200 cases have been reported to date. there is no sex predilection, with a 2:1 predilection for the mandible, mostly in the premo...

The role of exosomes and how they act at the tumour site are subjects growing study. These macrovesicles can be formed by a variety cell types, including immunological mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). In particular, exosome synthesis tumor is crucial because these transported blood to distant organs enhance probability spread. Exosomes may have tumor-inhibiting effects depending on kind source, d...

OBJECTIVE The mechanisms of cancer metastasis have been intensely studied recently and may provide vital therapeutic targets for metastasis prevention. We sought to review the contribution of epithelial-mesenchymal transition and the tumor microenvironment to cancer metastasis. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA Epithelial-mesenchymal transition is the process by which epithelial cells lose cell-cell ju...

The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process through which epithelial cells trans-differentiate and acquire an aggressive mesenchymal phenotype. In tumor cells, EMT is a vital step of tumor progression and metastasis. Amid the increasing interest in tumor EMT, only a few studies focused on the soluble mediators secreted by tumor cells passing through this phenotypic switch. In this ...

A 40-year-old patient was referred to Clinic of Endocrinology due to hypophosphatemia causing pain, cramps, and weakness of muscles. Moreover, his bone mineral density was very low. The previous treatment with phosphorus and active vitamin D metabolites was ineffective. In lab tests the hypophosphatemia, hyperphosphaturia, and elevated FGF23 levels were found. Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy...

Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) is strongly related to tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) which brings diverse skeletal events, such as bony deformities, gait disturbance, and multiple bone fractures. Overexpressed fibroblast growth factor 23 by the induces hypophosphatemia leading oncogenic osteomalacia, a rare paraneoplastic syndrome. PMT occurring in oral maxillofacial regions extremely r...

OBJECTIVES Previous studies used enumerated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) to predict prognosis and therapeutic effect in several types of cancers. However, increasing evidence showed that only enumerated CTCs were not enough to reflect the heterogeneity of tumors. Therefore, we classified different metastasis potentials of CTCs from colorectal cancer (CRC) patients to improve the accuracy of p...

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is important for tumor metastasis. Detection of EMT protein expression and observation of morphological changes are commonly used to identify EMT. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) and measuring apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values are noninvasive techniques for characterizing tumor microenvironments. We investigated the differ...
