The modification by molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) buffer layer on the electronic structure between Co and black phosphorus (BP) was investigated with ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (UPS) X-ray (XPS). It found that MoO3 could effectively prevent destruction of outermost BP lattice during deposition, symmetry remaining maintained. There is a noticeable interfacial charge transfer in addition...

A facile method for the synthesis of metal nanostructure-decorated two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor nanosheets was developed. The solution-processable molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) nanosheet was used as a template for direct liquid-phase growth of platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) under ambient conditions. Results show that the Pt NPs with sizes of 1-3 nm were uniformly grown on the MoO3 surface. ...

Using a 10 nm thick molybdenum oxide (MoO3-x) layer as a transparent and low barrier contact to p-CdTe, we demonstrate nanowire CdS-CdTe solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of 11% under front side illumination. Annealing the as-deposited MoO3 film in N2 resulted in a reduction of the cell's series resistance, from 9.97 Ω/cm(2) to 7.69 Ω/cm(2), and increase in efficiency from 9.9% to ...

We report the photochromic properties of amorphous MoO3 films deposited by dc sputtering with different O2 flow rates. The kinetics of film coloration under UV light irradiation is determined using optical transmission spectroscopy. Changes in the absorbance and refractive index were derived from the analysis of transmittance spectra. The absorbance spectra exhibited a growing broad peak center...

In this study we prepared molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) nanorods having average lengths of 0.5-1.5 μm and widths of approximately 100-200 nm through a one-step mechanical break-down process involving favorable fracturing along the crystal direction. We controlled the dimensions of the as-prepared nanorods by applying various imposing times (15-90 min). The nanorods prepared over a reaction time of...

Some time ago we reported the oxidation of 2,3-unsaturated hexopyranosides and 2-Cmethylene glycosides with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of molybdenum trioxide catalyst to give the corresponding anomeric hydroperoxides 1-5. Relatively stable hydroperoxides 1-5 were used for enantioselective oxidation of prochiral alcohols and sulfides in the presence of Ti(OiPr)4 with stereoselectivities v...

We perform high-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy on in situ cleaved topological insulator Bi2Se3 single crystals and in situ transport measurements on Bi2Se3 films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We demonstrate efficient electron depletion of Bi2Se3 via vacuum deposition of molecular MoO3, lowering the surface Fermi energy to within ∼100 meV of the Dirac point, well into the topological r...

The theoretical mechanism of open-circuit voltages (VOC) in OSCs based on various small molecule organic materials is studied. The structure under investigation is simple planar heterojunction (PHJ) by thermal vacuum evaporation deposition. The various wide band gaps of small molecule organic materials are used to enhance the power conversion efficiency (PCE). The donor materials used in the de...

The reduction of MoO3 with hydrogen was studied by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The experiments performed focused on elucidating phase composition and evolution with time under isothermal reduction conditions. From temperature programmed experiments short-range structural details about the early stage of the reduction were obtained.

Nanostructured MoO2/graphite oxide (GO) composites are synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analyses show that with the addition of GO and the increase in GO content in the precursor solutions, MoO3 rods change to MoO2 nanorods and then further to MoO2 nanoparticles, and the nanorods or nanoparticles are uniformly distributed on the...
