A low noise, low power, radiation hard, full custom integrated circuit has been studied for coupling with photodetectors of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter. A new version of the prototype preamplifier has been designed with improved performances (noise, dynamic range, consumption). Irradiation tests on this monolithic circuit have been performed at CERN with a Xray SEIFERT RP149 generator u...
We present an optoelectronic module called the equivalency-processing parallel photonic integrated circuit (EP(3)IC) that is created specifically to implement high-speed parallel equivalence searches (i.e., database word searches). The module combines a parallel-computation model with multiwavelength photonic integrated-circuit technology to achieve high-speed data processing. On the basis of s...
We propose the design of a reconfigurable impedance matching network for the lower RF frequency band, based on a developed RF-MEMS technology. The circuit is composed of RF-MEMS ohmic relays, metal-insulatormetal (MIM) capacitors and suspended spiral inductors, all integrated on a high resistivity Silicon substrate. The presented circuit is well-suited for all applications requiring adaptive im...
This paper presents the design and simulation of a 5GHz monolithic low-noise amplifier integrated with an active Balun. Intended to WLAN applications, the fully integrated circuit was implemented in a 0.18μm CMOS technology. The simulations, optimized to noise performance, gain and minimum differential phase and magnitude error, were performed with BSIM3 model. Circuit simulations present 23dB ...
In this paper, we have presented an X band high power amplifier based on MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) technology for satellite remote sensing systems. We have used GaN HEMT process with 500 nm gate length technology with VD= 40 V and VG= -2 V in class E structure. The proposed two-stage power amplifier provides 25 dB power gain with maximum output power of 49.3 dBm at 10 GHz. ...
The methodology and software tools for multi-level thermal and electro-thermal design of electronic components are presented. The discussion covers 2D/3D constructions of: 1) discrete and integrated semiconductor devices; 2) monolithic and hybrid ICs and VLSIs; 3) Hybrid ICs, MCMs and PCBs. The actual test validation using IR thermal measurement is demonstrated for all types of components.
Abstract This paper describes an air cavity quad‐flat no‐leads (QFN) over‐molded plastic packaged cascode broadband GaN LNA Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) with resistive feedback fabricated 0.25 μm HEMT technology. The single stage QFN MMIC achieves a bandwidth of 0.03–2.6 GHz typical gain 11.5 dB and less than 1.5 noise figure. low amplifier (LNA) design is based on model conce...
Simulation in the frequency-domain avoids many of the severe problems experienced when trying to use traditional time-domain simulators such as Spice [1] to find the steady-state behavior of analog, RF, and microwave circuits. In particular, frequency-domain simulation eliminates problems from distributed components and high-Q circuits by forgoing a nonlinear differential equation representatio...
The objective of this two-volume book is the systematic and comprehensive description of the most competitive time-domain computational methods for the efficient modeling and accurate solution of modern real-world EMC problems. Intended to be self-contained, it performs a detailed presentation of all well-known algorithms, elucidating on their merits or weaknesses, and accompanies the theoretic...
