We present a novel approach for synonymous term preference detection that relies on chronological text analysis. Our approach analyses the use of synonymous term entries in a chronological reference corpus. As a result of preference evaluation, a ranking of preference between all the synonymous term entries belonging to the same concept is established.

Evaluations of the acidity or alkalinity of solutions are used in many industries such as food industries, medicine, chemical engineering, petrochemical industries, agriculture, animal husbandry, industrial laboratories, etc. Portable and stationary pH measurements are very common and are an integral part of these studies, due to the importance of pH. The computation of preferred labellings of an abstract argumentation framework (or briefly, AF) is generally intractable. The existing decomposition-based approach by exploiting strongly connected components (SCCs) of a general AF is promising to cope with this problem. However, the efficiency of this approach is highly limited by the maximal SCC of an AF. This paper presents a further solution...

A single-session procedure to assess an individual's most preferred level of a factor in a product is justified theoretically and illustrated by the results for salt concentration in samples of bread and tomato soup tested on 30 young men who had had no previous experience of the task. Each man rated the saltiness of each sample as a distance below or above his ideal for that food type. Without...
