The strategies children employ to selectively attend to different parts of the face may reflect important developmental changes in facial emotion recognition. Using the Moving Window Technique (MWT), children aged 5-12 years and adults (N = 129) explored faces with a mouse-controlled window in an emotion recognition task. An age-related increase in attention to the left eye emerged at age 11-12...

We present a novel approach to real-time dense visual SLAM. Our system is capable of capturing comprehensive dense globally consistent surfel-based maps of room scale environments explored using an RGB-D camera in an incremental online fashion, without pose graph optimisation or any postprocessing steps. This is accomplished by using dense frame-tomodel camera tracking and windowed surfel-based...

This paper presents a method to compute Mean and Gaussian curvatures from range images. The rst and second partial derivatives are estimated by the weighted least squares t of a biquadratic polynomial within a local moving window. The weights are determined on the basis of surface distances and normal angular distances from the center points of the window.

In many real-time resource-constrained embedded systems, highly-predictable system behavior is a key design requirement. The “time-triggered co-operative” (TTC) scheduling algorithm provides a good match for a wide range of low-cost embedded applications. As a consequence of the resource, timing, and power constraints, the implementation of such algorithm is often far from trivial. Thus, basic ...

This extended abstract details a submission to the Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange in the Audio Beat tracking task. The basic idea is based on the algorithm which submitted by Daniel P.W. Ellis in MIREX 2006. We consider about the energy of beats in order to approximate the human auditory system and improve tracking accuracy. I. BEAT TRACKING WITH A MOVING WINDOW In MIREX 2009, ...

A multi-scale, moving-window method for local thresholding based on Robust Automatic Threshold Selection (RATS) is developed. Using a model for the noise response of the optimal edge detector in this context, the reliability of thresholds computed at di erent scales is determined. The threshold computed at the smallest scale at which the reliability is su cient is used. The performance on 2-D i...
