A bstract We develop an economical theoretical framework for combined explanations of the flavor physics anomalies involving muons: ( g − 2) μ , $$ {R}_{K^{\left(\ast \right)}} R K ∗ and b → sμ + angul...
The proton structure effects, including finite size, polarizability and self– energy is considered and their influence on energy levels of muonic hydrogen is recalculated. A new theoretical prediction for the Lamb shift is presented together with improved values of all known QED contributions. Proton structure effects in hydrogenic bound states are analyzed using nonrelativistic QED effective field theory. Implications for the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen are discussed. Model-dependent assumptions in previous analyses are isolated, and sensitivity to poorly constrained hadronic structure in the two-photon exchange contribution is identified.
The proton structure and proton polarizability corrections to the Lamb shift of electronic hydrogen and muonic hydrogen were evaluated on the basis of modern experimental data on deep inelastic structure functions. Numerical value of proton polarizability contribution to (2P-2S) Lamb shift is equal to 4.4 GHz.
We obtain the next-to-next-to-leading-log renormalization group improvement of the spectrum of Hydrogen-like atoms with massless fermions by using potential NRQED. These results can also be applied to the computation of the muonic Hydrogen spectrum. We compare with other formalisms dealing with log resummation available in the literature. Transition rates for coherent muon-electron conversion in muonic atoms, μN → eN , are computed for various types of muon number violating interactions. Attention is paid to relativistic atomic effects, Coulomb distortion, finite nuclear size, and nucleon distributions. Discrepancies with previously published results are pointed out and explained. Results are presented for several elements of cu...

The extremely precise extraction of the proton radius by Pohl et al. from the meaAnnu. Rev. Nucl. Part. Sci. 2013, Vol. 63. doi: 10.1146/annurev-nucl-102212-170627 sured energy difference between the 2P and 2S states of muonic hydrogen disagrees significantly with that extracted from electronic hydrogen or elastic electron-proton scattering. This is the proton radius puzzle. The origins of the ...
