BACKGROUND Sympathetic block causes vasodilatation and increases in skin temperature (T(s)). However, the T(s) response after specific nerve blocking is unknown. In this study, we hypothesized that T(s) would increase after specific blocking of the nerve innervating that area. METHODS Forty-six patients undergoing hand surgery were included. We performed ultrasound-guided, specific nerve bloc...

Electrodiagnostic examination of 11 patients with shoulder dislocation revealed nerve damage not previously reported. Although axillary nerve lesions were most common, posterior cord and musculocutaneous nerve damage occurred each in five cases. The mechanism of injury was important. The most surprising patterns were associated with blunt injury or recurrent spontaneous dislocation.

Introduction Pronator teres usually originates as two heads, the superficial humeral head from medial epicondyle and the deep ulnar head from the coronoid process. The median nerve passes between the two heads, and the ulnar artery passes deep to the deep head of the pronator teres in the cubital fossa. Flexor carpi radialis, another superficial flexor of the forearm arises from common flexor o...

AIM The aim of this study is to compare the results of nerve grafting vs. common infraclavicular intraplexal nerve transfer in elbow flexion restoration. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 39 patients with upper brachial plexus palsy who were operated using common intraplexal nerve transfer (Oberlin procedure) and the thoracodorsal and medial pectoral nerve transfer to the musculocutaneo...

Anatomic variation of the biceps brachii muscle (BBM) is frequently observed; its pattern diverse and clinically important. During educational dissection a 78-year-old Korean male cadaver, six additional asymmetrical heads were found on both sides. On right side, two originated from humerus; musculocutaneous nerve passed between these short head BBM. Four left anterior to BBM, one which pectora...
