The coordination chemistries of the tetradentate N2O2-type ligands N-(2-pyridylmethyl)iminodiethanol (H2pmide) and N-(2-pyridylmethyl)iminodiisopropanol (H2pmidip) have been investigated with nickel(ii) and cobalt(ii/iii) ions. Three novel complexes prepared and characterized are [(Hpmide)2Ni3(CH3COO)4] (1), [(Hpmide)2Co3(CH3COO)4] (2), and [(pmidip)2Co3(CH3COO)4] (3). In 1 and 2, two terminal ...

Experimental data on cadmium (II) and nickel (II) ion sorption on deactivated protonated yeast over a wide range of sorbent and initial metal concentrations, were analyzed by an equilibrium model based on a thermodynamics approach. Model describes relationships between the equilibrium concentration of metal, metal sorption per unit biomass dosage and concentration of sorbent and initial metal c...

1. The association and ionization constants for nickel (II) and a selection of L-histidine-containing peptides have been computed together with the constants for copper (II) and acetylglycylglycyl-L-histidylglycine. 2. A close parallel between the titration behavior of copper (II) apomyoglobin complexes and model peptides has been obtained on the assumption that 1 of the 4 bound metal ions is s...

The potential of Pleurotus ostreatus spent mushroom compost (PSMC) as a green biosorbent for nickel (II) biosorption was investigated in this study. A novel approach of using the half-saturation concentration of biosorbent to rapidly determine the uptake, kinetics and mechanism of biosorption was employed together with cost per unit uptake analysis to determine the potential of this biosorbent....

Nickel is an essential micronutrient for a large number of living organisms, but it is also a toxic metal ion when it accumulates beyond the sustainable level as it may result if and when its cellular trafficking is not properly governed. Therefore, the homeostasis and metabolism of nickel is tightly regulated through metal-specific protein networks that respond to the available Ni(II) concentr...

Nickel(II) of 0.04-1.4 mmol dm-3 and palladium(II) of 1-32 μmol dm-3 were extracted quantitatively into chloroform from the aqueous phases containing 0.2 mol dm-3 and 2 mmol dm-3 0,0'-diethyldithiophosphate(dtp-) at pH 1-7 and 1-13, and determined at 385 nm (c=8.4x 102 mol-' dm3 cm-') and 298 nm (e=2.9x 104 mol-' dm3 cm-'), respectively. The determination of nickel was affected with many divers...

SYNTHESIS AND HETEROALLENE REACTIVITY OF BIS(ALDIMINO)PYRIDINE NICKEL COMPLEXESIN FOUR DIFFERENT OXIDATION STATESbyBLAKE R. REED August 2016Advisor: Dr. Stanislav Groysman Major: ChemistryDegree: Doctor of PhilosophyA series of redox non-innocent bis(aldimino)pyridine ligands were synthesized. Thesewere then reacted with nickel(II) salts to form Ni[NNN]X2 complex...

The use of colored semiconductor oxide like copper (II) oxide and nickel (II) oxide for photocatalytic bleaching of rose bengal was investigated in detail. In order to harness the solar energy, the effective wavelength of the photocatalyst is to be expanded into the visible region and that increases the rate of photocatalytic bleaching of the dye. Progress of the reaction was observed spect...

A stable hydrogen photogeneration system containing fluorescein as a photosensitizer with nickel(II) chloride as a catalyst precursor in basic solution was found to undergo in situ photoreduction of nickel(II) to zero-valent Ni nanoparticles to catalyze highly efficient hydrogen evolution under visible light irradiation.

Reaction of nickel(II) chloride with sodium cyanate and 2,6-di-methyl-pyrazine leads to single crystals of the title com-pound, [Ni(NCO)(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(4)]. The nickel(II) cation is located about a centre of inversion and is octa-hedrally coordinated by two cyanate anions and four 2,6-dimethyl-pyrazine ligands, forming discrete complexes.
