I review the main features of the nuclear response extracted from electron scattering data. The emerging picture clearly shows that the shell model does not provide a fully quantitative description of nuclear dynamics. On the other hand, many body approaches in which correlation effetcs are explicitely taken into account lead to a satisfactory account of electron scattering observables. The pos...
We show that, to a very good approximation, the ratio of the spin-flip to the non-flip parts of the elastic proton-nucleus amplitude is the same as for proton-nucleon scattering at very high energy. The result is used to do a realistic calculation of the analyzing power A N for pC scattering in the Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI) region of momentum transfer.
The nuclear rainbow observed in the elastic $$\alpha $$ -nucleus and light heavy-ion scattering is proven to be due refraction of wave by a deep, attractive real optical potential. pattern, established as broad oscillation Airy minima cross section, originates from an interference refracted far-side amplitudes. It natural expect similar pattern also inelastic nucleus–nucleus system that exhibit...
We suggest that superscaling analyses of few-GeV inclusive electron scattering from nuclei, both in the quasielastic peak and in the region where the ∆-excitation dominates, allow one to make reliable predictions for charge-changing neutrino reactions at energies of a few GeV, relevant for neutrino oscillation experiments.
This article presents a review of the field of inclusive quasi-elastic electron-nucleus scattering. It discusses the approach used to measure the data and includes a compilation of data available in numerical form. The theoretical approaches used to interpret the data are presented. A number of results obtained from the comparison between experiment and calculation are then reviewed. The analog...
I describe physics potential and experimental prospects for coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS), a process which has not yet been observed. Germaniumbased detectors represent a promising technology for CEvNS experiments. I focus primarily on stopped-pion neutrino sources. 1. Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (“CEvNS”1) is ...
Microscopic optical potentials for nucleon-nucleus (NA) scattering obtained from the folding of the effective g matrices, solutions of the Bruckner-BetheGoldstone equation, with the densities of the target, are applied to the case of neutron-nucleus scattering. Given that the optical potentials are specified in all two-body angular momentum, spin and isospin channels available to the NA scatter...
