With attention to the thin film structure of colloidal quantum dot solar cells, in this paper in order to improvement of active layer absorption of them, we have proposed the use of nanostructure pattern for enhancement of their performance. For this purpose we have presented suitable nano hemisphare patterns in colloidal quantum dot solar cells for light trapping in absorption layer. Then with...

In this overview paper, we present low-temperature electronic transport measurements of carbon nanotube quantum dots with a back gate. In a semiconducting tube, charge carriers could be completely depleted. The addition energy and the excitation spectrum have been studied as a function of the number of charges (electrons or holes), one by one. We observe electron–hole symmetry, which is a direc...

Magnetic semiconductor quantum dots with a few carriers represent an interesting model system where ferromagnetic interactions can be tuned by voltage. By designing the geometry of a doped quantum dot, one can tailor the anisotropic quantum states of magnetic polarons. The strong anisotropy of magnetic polaron states in disklike quantum dots with holes comes from the spin splitting in the valen...

PACS. 71.10.Ay – Fermi-liquid theory and other phenomenological models. Abstract. – By combining exact diagonalization with scaling method, we show that it is possible to realize two channel spin 1 2 Kondo (2CK) conductance in a quantum dot at Coulomb Blockade, with an odd number of electrons and with contacts in a pillar configuration, as an applied orthogonal magnetic field B is tuned at an a...

Single-spin measurement represents a major challenge for spin-based quantum computation. In this paper, we propose a new method for measuring the spin of a single electron confined in a quantum dot (QD). Our strategy is based on entangling (using unitary gates) the spin and orbital degrees of freedom. An ‘orbital qubit’, defined by a second, empty QD, is used as an ancilla and is prepared in a ...

We study the dephasing of two-electron states in a single quantum dot in both GaAs and Si. We investigate dephasing induced by electron-phonon coupling and by charge noise analytically for pure orbital excitations in GaAs and Si, as well as for pure valley excitations in Si. In GaAs, polar optical phonons give rise to the most important contribution, leading to a typical dephasing rate of ∼5.9 ...

We show that the low-lying spin states of two electrons in a semiconductor quantum dot can be strongly mixed by electron-electron asymmetric exchange. This mixing is generated by the coupling of the electron spin to its orbital motion and to the relative orbital motion of the two electrons. The asymmetric exchange can be as large as 50% of the isotropic exchange, even for cylindrical dots. The ...

In a network of quantum dots embedded in a semiconductor structure, no two are the same, and so their individual and collective properties must be measured after fabrication. Here, we demonstrate a ‘level anti-crossing spectroscopy’ (LACS) technique in which the ladder of orbital energy levels of one quantum dot is used to probe that of a nearby quantum dot. This optics-based technique can be a...

We demonstrate electrical control of the spin relaxation time T1 between Zeeman-split spin states of a single electron in a lateral quantum dot. We find that relaxation is mediated by the spin-orbit interaction, and by manipulating the orbital states of the dot using gate voltages we vary the relaxation rate W identical withT1(-1) by over an order of magnitude. The dependence of W on orbital co...
