– Spectroscopy was performed along three distinct crystallographic axes of a high refractive index contrast photonic crystal and the spectra were compared with theoretical calculations. Deep dips were observed in the experimental spectra at 2.1 and 3.2μm and predicted by calculations. The photonic crystal was prepared through melt-imbibing of selenium into a self-assembled face-centered-cubic c...
garlic (allium sativum l., alliaceae), persian shallot (allium ascalonicum l., alliaceae ) and sage (salvia officinalis l., lamiaceae) are believed to have hypoglycemic properties and have been used traditionally as antidiabetic herbal medicines in iran. in this study, diabetes was induced by subcutaneous injection of alloxan monohydrate (100 mg kg−1) to male wistar rats. antidiabetic effects of...
Recently, photonic band-gap (PBG) structures are under intense research due to their various applications in optics, microwave, and antenna engineering. Therefore, the accurate modelling of band diagram of frequency-dependent PBG structures is highly needed because the electric properties of all of the materials depend on frequency. In this paper, a new finite-difference frequency-domain (FDFD)...
Finite two-dimensional photonic bandgap (PBG) structures were analyzed with a ®nite-difference time-domain (FDTD) full wave, vector Maxwell equation simulator. Removal of particular portions of these PBG structures lead to interesting sub-micron-sized waveguiding environments. Several waveguides and power dividers were designed and evaluated. By introducing further defects into the PBG waveguid...
In this note we discuss the effect of the BZ/p-nullification PBZ/p and the BZ/p-cellularization CWBZ/p over classifying spaces of finite groups, and we relate them with the corresponding functors with respect to Moore spaces that have been intensively studied in the last years. We describe PBZ/pBG by means of a covering fibration, and we classify all finite groups G for which BG is BZ/p-cellula...
Photonic bandgap (PBG) structures have remarkable optical properties that can be exploited for biosensing applications. We describe the fabrication of 1-D PBG biosensors using porous silicon. The optical properties of porous silicon PBGs are sensitive to small changes of refractive index in the porous layers, which makes them a good sensing platform capable of detecting binding of the target mo...
We demonstrate a 158 fs 5.3 nJ mode-locked laser system based on a fiber oscillator, fiber amplifier and fiber compressor. Dispersion compensation in the fiber oscillator was obtained with a solid-core photonic bandgap (SC-PBG) fiber spliced to standard fibers, and external compression is obtained with a hollow-core photonic bandgap (HC-PBG) fiber.
The MIT Faculty has made this article openly available. Please share how this access benefits you. Your story matters. An improved single-cell photonic band-gap (PBG) structure with an inner row of elliptical rods (PBG-E) was tested with high power at a 60 Hz repetition rate at X-band (11.424 GHz), achieving a gradient of 128 MV=m at a breakdown probability of 3:6 Â 10 À3 per pulse per meter at...
We report the design and experimental demonstration of a gyrotron oscillator using a photonic-band-gap (PBG) structure to eliminate mode competition in a highly overmoded resonator. The PBG cavity supports a TE(041)-like mode at 140 GHz and is designed to have no competing modes over a minimum frequency range delta omega/omega of 30% about the design mode. Experimental operation of a PBG gyrotr...
