Background—Abnormal heart rate recovery (HRR) has been shown to predict mortality. Although small studies have found that HRR can be improved with cardiac rehabilitation, it is unknown whether an improvement would affect mortality. The aim of this study was to determine whether HRR could be improved with cardiac rehabilitation and whether it would be predictive of mortality. Methods and Results...
Quality of life in patients with cardiological syndrome X (XS) and ischemic heart disease (IHD) assessed with Nottingham Health Profile questionnaire was compared to that shown by exercise tests. Compared to IHD patients, those with XS have worse quality of life. This is explained by a lower pain threshold and, consequently, lower exercise tolerance.

SUBJECTS The study comprised 442 consecutive patients with cardiac diseases assessed at entry into a phase II cardiac rehabilitation programme. METHODS Clinical characteristics of the patients, such as ...
BACKGROUND Cardiac rehabilitation is often under-utilized despite its well-known benefits. Individuals with cardiac disease who exhibit a positive outlook often experience improved health outcomes. This study tried to explore the question: "What are the lived experiences of cardiac recovery in cardiac rehabilitation individuals with a predominantly positive outlook in the context of an acute ca...
PURPOSE Heart rate variability (HRV) decreases after an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) due to changes in cardiac autonomic balance. The purpose of the present study, therefore, was to evaluate the effects of a progressive exercise protocol used in phase I cardiac rehabilitation on the HRV of patients with post-AMI. MATERIAL AND METHODS Thirty-seven patients who had been admitted to hospita...
introduction: there are significant gender differences in the epidemiology and presentation of cardiovascular diseases (cvds), physiological aspects of cvds, response to diagnostic tests or interventions, and prevalence or incidence of the associated risk factors. considering the independent influence of gender on early dire consequences of such diseases, this study was conducted to investigate...
