Recently, incorporating multiple components into one nanostructured matrix to construct a multifunctional nanomedical platform has attracted more and more attention for simultaneous anticancer diagnosis and therapy. Herein, a novel anti-cancer nanoplatform has been successfully developed by coating a uniform shell of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) on the surface of CuS-decorated upconversion nanopart...
Polypyrrole nanoparticles (PPy NPs) exhibit strong absorption in the near infrared (NIR) region. With an excellent photothermal efficiency of ~45% at 808 nm, sub-100 nm PPy NPs are demonstrated to be a promising photothermal agent for in vivo cancer therapy using NIR irradiation.
Cancer combination therapy to treat tumors with different therapeutic approaches can efficiently improve treatment efficacy and reduce side effects. Herein, we develop a theranostic nano-platform based on polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles, which then are exploited as a versatile carrier to allow simultaneous loading of indocyanine green (ICG), doxorubicin (DOX) and manganese ions (PDA-ICG-PEG/DO...
The combination of photothermal therapy (PTT) with gene therapy (GT) to improve PTT efficiency and thus eliminate cancer cells under mild hyperthermia is highly needed. Herein, multifunctional WS2 @poly(ethylene imine) (WS2 @PEI) nanoplatform has been designed and constructed for gene-photothermal synergistic therapy of tumors at mild condition. After a surface modification of WS2 with a positi...
Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) were exploited to coat Au nanorods (AuNRs) as a hyperthermia agent for enhanced plasmonic photothermal therapy. The utilization of a MOF shell reduces the cytotoxicity of AuNRs and enhances the photothermal transduction efficiency of AuNRs, resulting in the improved phototoxicity of MOF coated AuNRs compared with the unmodified AuNRs.
A photothermal pH-reporting nanoprobe was developed for intraoperative tumor detection by "turn-on" fluorescence of the probe inside viable tumor cells, photothermal tumor therapy, and in situ monitoring of tumor killing by non-fluorescence of the probe in damaged cells.
Tumor combination therapy using nano formulations with multimodal synergistic therapeutic effects shows great potential for complete ablation of tumors. However, targeting tumor metastases with nano structures is a major obstacle for therapy. Therefore, developing a combination therapy system able to target both primary tumors and their metastases at distant sites with synergistic therapy is de...
Developing multifunctional near-infrared (NIR) light-driven photothermal agents is in high demand for efficient cancer therapy. Herein, PEGylated Cu3BiS3 hollow nanospheres (HNSs) with an average diameter of 80 nm were synthesized through a facile ethylene glycol-mediated solvothermal route. The obtained PEGylated Cu3BiS3 HNSs exhibited strong NIR optical absorption with a large molar extinctio...
