Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based model has been proposed for diagnosis of process mean shift. These are mainly generalized-based where only a single classifier was applied in the diagnosis of abnormal pattern. In this paper, we analyze the performance of a combined recognizer consisting of small-sized artificial neural networks on varying number of nodes in the hidden layer trained with Le...

Multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM) control charts are widely used in industry because they are powerful and easy to use. They cumulate recent process data to quickly detect out-of-control situations. MCUSUM procedures will usually give tighter process control than classical quality control charts. A MCUSUM signal does not mean that the process is producting bad product. Rather it means that a...

We introduce a mean-field zero-range process. It is a Markov chain model for a microcanonical ensemble. We prove that the process converges to a fluid limit. The fluid limit rapidly relaxes to the appropriate Gibbs distribution. Since the earliest days of statistical process control, it has been recognized that it is essential to monitor both mean and variability and to trigger an alarm if either characteristic shows sign of a special cause. It is, however, possible to monitor both mean and variance in a single chart responsive to shifts in either. Traditionally, this has been done by using separate X̄ and S or R charts...

In many domain areas the behaviour of a system can be described at two levels: the behaviour of individual components, and the behaviour of the system as a whole. Often deriving one from the other is impossible, or at least intractable, especially when realistically large systems are considered. Here we present a rigorous algorithm which, given an individual based model in the process algebra W...
