We theoretically investigate a novel switching phenomenon based on the divacant Keggin-type polyoxotungstate bearing chiral organophosphonate [{NH(2)CH(CH(3))PO}(2)(γ-SiW(10)O(36))](4-), that is the synchronous chiroptical and nonlinear optical (NLO) switch triggered by redox. The ECD calculations on the Boltzmann weighted conformations of the three oxidation states of this chiral polyoxometala...

AIM To assess the scalability, reliability and validity of a newly constructed self-report questionnaire on craving for benzodiazepines (BZs), the Benzodiazepine Craving Questionnaire (BCQ). SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS The BCQ was administered once to a sample of 113 long-term and 80 former long-term general practice BZ users participating in a large BZ reduction trial in general practice. MEA...

This article investigates possible alternatives for soil compaction testing to potentially replace the standard testing equipment by examining all the testing methods for reproducibility and repeatability. This study found that coefficients of variation and standard error to the mean produced the best results that fit with previous studies.

The internal consistency, validity, and factor structure of the Shacham shortened version (37 items) of the 65-item profile of mood states (POMS) were examined with a sample of 428 cancer patients who were awaiting bone marrow transplantation. Cronbach's alphas ranging from 0.78 to 0.91 were obtained for each of the six subscales of the POMS-short form (POMS-SF) and for the total 37-item scale....

From atomic level to understand the cluster-size-dependant behavior of dye-sensitized photocatalysts is very important and helpful to design new photocatalytic materials. Although the relationship between the photocatalytic behaviors and particles' size/shape has been widely investigated by theoretical scientists, the experimental evidences are much less. In this manuscript, we successfully syn...

Relationships among marital satisfaction, personality, felt and expressed affects, and conflict resolution during conflict discussions of married couples were assessed. Specific affects were measured using a behavioral coding system (SPAFF) and a self-report measure (POMS). Correlations between behaviorally coded and self-reported affects varied across specific emotions. Generally, self-reporte...

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a single bout of walking on mood, psychophysiologic responses, and executive function in elderly adults. METHODS Twenty healthy, elderly adults (10 women and 10 men; mean age 70.50 ± 3.4 years) participated in this study. Mood, as assessed by the Profile of Mood States, and salivary α-amylase activity were examined before and ...

OBJECTIVE This study was to examine the effect of complementary therapy (CT) for nurses with high stress levels. It was taken before we employ this technique for cancer survivors because cancer patients are a heterogeneous group that requires substantial resources to investigate. METHODS A quasi-experimental design with five groups was employed for this study. The groups were examined whether...

It is now over 10 years since the first publication on Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) (Goldratt, 1997) and since then software and implementation practice has rapidly developed. The logic and assumptions underpinning this new knowledge has recently been published (Goldratt, 2007) in the form of a strategy and tactics (S&T) tree. It is, therefore, timely to review the CCPM claims from ...
