Increases in cloud optical depth and liquid water path (LWP) are robust features of global warming model simulations in high latitudes, yielding a negative shortwave cloud feedback, but the mechanisms are still uncertain. We assess the importance of microphysical processes for the negative optical depth feedback by perturbing temperature in the microphysics schemes of two aquaplanet models, bot...

One source of complexity in tackling realistic scheduling problems comes from activities with resource alternatives. Such activities have a choice of resources to utilize. These resources may vary in their processing speed and the constraints upon them. The decision of which resource to use to process an activity can have a significant impact upon the quality of the schedule. A number of approa...

The use of coumarin dyes adsorbed on titanium dioxide (TiO2, P25) successfully extended the photocatalytic UV response of TiO2 toward visible light region. The hydrogenation of acetophenone (AP) using TiO2 modified with coumarin dyes proceeded with good chemical efficiencies under visible light irradiation. The role of sacrificial reagents on this dye-sensitized system is also reported.

Since that a job usually contains several working procedures in actual production, and it’s hard to optimize the flexible collaborative planning, the flexible lot splitting and scheduling of the job simultaneously in batch production mode, a model for multiobjective integration of flexible collaborative planning and fuzzy lot-splitting scheduling is established. We take four performance indicat...

We study manipulability of multi-valued solutions in fair allocation of homogeneous indivisible objects with monetary transfers. We show that the no-envy solution satis…es some extension of strategy-proofness to multi-valued solutions. Since no-envy implies Pareto e¢ ciency in this literature, this result implies that we can escape many impossibility results on strategy-proofness by allowing a ...

This paper studies the distribution of the classical t-ratio with data generated from distributions with no finite moments and shows how classical testing is affected by bimodality. A key condition in generating bimodality is independence of the observations in the underlying data generating process (DGP). The paper highlights the strikingly different implications of lack of correlation versus ...

Abstract—Concurrent planning of project scheduling and material ordering has been increasingly addressed within last decades as an approach to improve the project execution costs. Therefore, we have taken the problem into consideration in this paper, aiming to maximize schedules quality robustness, in addition to minimize the relevant costs. In this regard, a bi-objective mathematical model is ...

Problems of haplotyping and block partitioning have been extensively studied with regard to the regular genotype data, but more cost-efficient data called XOR-genotypes remain under-investigated. Previous studies developed methods for haplotyping of short-sequence partial XOR-genotypes. In this paper we propose a new algorithm that performs haplotyping of long-range partial XOR-genotype data wi...

We present techniques for incrementally managing schedules in domains where activities accrue quality as a function of the time and resources allocated to them and the goal is to maximize the overall quality of actions executed over time. The scheduling problem of interest is both over-subscribed and dynamic; there is generally more to do than is possible within imposed deadlines, and opportuni...

We consider a problem faced by train companies: How can trains be assigned to satisfy scheduled routes in a cost efficient way? Currently, many railway companies create solutions by hand, a timeconsuming task which is too slow for interaction with the schedule creators. Further, it is difficult to measure how efficient the manual solutions are. We consider several variants of the problem. For s...
