Arctic/Arctic-like rabies virus group 2 spread into Bangladesh ≈32 years ago. Because rabies is endemic to and a major public health problem in this country, we characterized this virus group. Its glycoprotein has 3 potential N-glycosylation sites that affect viral pathogenesis. Diversity of rabies virus might have public health implications in Bangladesh.

Compared to other methods of vaccine production, (e.g. culture flask and bioreactor system), the roller culture method for producing rabies vaccine is simpler, and the equipment easier to install and maintain, and also in the event of contamination of one roller, the entire batch need not be discarded. This system provides a much larger surface area than the culture flask, and also ensures a mu...

background: nanoparticles have been considered as promising tools because of their high applicability. recently, nanoparticles have been evaluated for their ability to increase the immune responses as adjuvants. silver-nanoparticles (agnps) have shown promising results in enhancing th-2 immune responses and to produce potent neutralizing antibodies. neutralizing antibodies are considered as the...

Rabies is a fatal neurological infection caused by rabies virus. The deadly rabies virus could enter into human body via the wound that has caused by mammal bite. Since rabies is a fatal disease without existing effective treatment, the best way is prevention. The widely examined preventive method for rabies is the use of post exposure rabies vaccination. In this specific case report, the autho...

Rabies virus leader RNA was detected in infected BHK-21 cell extracts by hybridization to end-labeled genomic RNA. Similar to the leader RNA of vesicular stomatitis virus, the leader RNA of rabies virus was also found to be associated with the La protein by specific immunoprecipitation with antisera from lupus patients. The 3' end of the genomic RNA of rabies virus was sequenced, and the size a...

During 2006, 49 states and Puerto Rico reported 6,940 cases of rabies in animals and 3 cases in hu mans to the CDC, representing an 8.2% increase from the 6,417 cases in animals and 1 case in a human reported in 2005. Approximately 92% of the cases were in wildlife, and 8% were in domestic animals. Relative contributions by the major animal groups were as follows: 2,615 raccoons (37.7%), 1,692...

Since 1981, an epizootic of raccoon rabies has spread throughout the eastern United States. A concomitant increase in reported rabies cases in skunks has raised concerns that an independent maintenance cycle of rabies virus in skunks could become established, affecting current strategies of wildlife rabies control programs. Rabies surveillance data from 1981 through 2000 obtained from the healt...

rabies is acutely fatal encephalitis caused by a neurotropic virus. this virus belongs to the family ofrhabdoviridae and genus of lyssavirus. the virus is almost always transmitted to human through infectedmammalian saliva. rabies is inoculated to a wound by an infected animal bite. since infection is establishedin the cns, the outcome is almost always fatal. according to the outstanding role o...

This study aimed to test in vitro a RNA-interference based antiviral approach for rabies with short-interfering RNAs (siRNAs) against rabies virus nucleoprotein mRNA. BHK-21 cells were infected with serial dilutions of PV rabies virus strain and transfected with a pool of three siRNAs. Direct immunofluorescence staining showed a 5-time decrease in virus titer when compared to a non-treated plat...

Rabies is a fatal viral disease affecting warm-blooded mammals (bats, carnivores, and ruminants) even humans. The virus usually transmitted between humans or other animals through the bite of infected animals. However, there are unusual ways to share virus, such as organ transplants. has been known in ancient world since about 2300 BC. Dogs were commonly leading carriers disease. There strange ...
