Scabies is an intensely pruritic disorder induced by an immune allergic response to infestation of the skin by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The biology of the mite, the clinical aspects and diagnosis of scabies infestations as well as the treatment of choice with 5% permethrin dermal cream and the use of scabicides based on other chemical substances are reviewed.
OBJECTIVE To compare the acaricidal activity of Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil (TTO) and some of its individual active components on the itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis. DESIGN In vitro acaricide sensitivity assessment. SETTING The Menzies School of Health Research laboratory, located near the Infectious Diseases Ward of the Royal Darwin Hospital, Australia, where patients ar...

The second internal transcribed spacer region of the nuclear ribosomal gene cluster (ITS2). This consists three genes (18S rDNA, 5.8S rDNA and 28S rDNA) which have into RNA. Nevertheless, not translated protein. It is sensitive to detect S. scabiei DNA even after treatment. In addition, this can genetic variations species that are related taxonomically. study aimed determine compare sensitivity...
Streptomyces scabiei is a key causative agent of common scab disease, which causes significant economic losses to potato growers worldwide. This organism produces several phytotoxins that are known or suspected contribute host–pathogen interactions and disease development; however, the full metabolic potential S. has not been previously investigated. In this study, we used combined metabolomic ...
Sarcoptic mange infested sheep showed pruritis, excoriation, crusts, lichenification and secondary alopecia on face and ears. All the infested sheep were treated successfully with Ivermectin at 200 μg/kg body weight and complete recovery of skin was observed between 10th and 14th day post treatments. Sarcoptic mange is highly contagious and the spread of Sarcoptes scabiei is usually by close co...
