The vast majority of nanotoxicity studies measures the effect of exposure to a toxicant on an organism and ignores the potentially important effects of the organism on the toxicant. We investigated the effect of citrate-coated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on populations of the freshwater alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at different phases of batch culture growth and show that the AgNPs are most ...

results low concentrations of agnps and short incubation times can have the maximum positive impact on the peroxidase activity, and in the present study the highest activity was seen at a concentration of 40 mg/l and two hours of incubation time. conclusions this study suggests that changes of enzyme activity can occur as a result of the effect of silver nanoparticles on enzyme conformation, in...

In this study, we analyzed the antimicrobial activities of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (pNIPAM)-based polymeric nanoparticles encapsulating silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Three sizes of AgNP-encapsulating pNIPAM- and pNIPAM-NH2-based polymeric nanoparticles were fabricated. Highly stable and uniformly distributed AgNPs were encapsulated within polymeric nanoparticles via in situ reduction of AgNO...

There is a growing production and application of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) (e.g., in cosmetics products, food technology, textiles and fabrics, and medical products and devices). The rapid growth in the commercial use of AgNPs will inevitably increase exposure to silver in the environment and among the general population. Compared to the vast application of silver, information on the fate, t...

Facile and reproducible SERS signals from Shewanella oneidensis were obtained utilizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and silver nanowires (AgNWs). Additionally, SERS images identify the distribution of SERS hot-spots. One important observation is the synergistically enhanced SERS signal when AgNPs and AgNWs are used in conjunction, due to constructively enhanced electromagnetic field.

Bio-chemical reduction method was employed to synthesise the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) by aging the mixture of the aqueous extract of the Trachyspermum Ammi (TA, Ajwain) seeds and AgNO3 solution at different time interval. Reaction time of AgNO3 and TA could accelerate the reduction rate of Ag and affect AgNPs size and concentration of NPs. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies confirms the forma...

Biosynthesis of plant-mediated silver nanoparticles is gaining significant importance due to environmentally safe 'green method' and it is an efficient alternative method. In the present study, silver nanoparticles were synthesized by using root extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra an important medicinal plant. The AgNPs are characterized by spectral analysis; the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak ...

Silver nanoparticles play an integral part in the evolution of new antimicrobials against the broad ranges of pathogenic microorganisms. Recently, biological synthesis of metal nanoparticles using plant extracts has been successfully consummated. In the present study, the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was conducted using the leaf extract of plant Protium serratum, having novel et...
