All pupils in the third grade of the intermediate educational level (‘MAVO’) of these schools were selected, resulting in a sample of 1,528 pupils aged between 13 and 18 years, excluding two pupils who did not seriousl...

When the ovaries have been removed, or when their vitality has been impaired by disease, the uterus is found senescent and small. 4. Pelvic inflammations, by causing, as Freund first indicated, condensation of the cellular tissues in the broad ligament, may impair the circulation in the uterine vessels, or, by producing adhesions around the uterus, as described by Jaquet, may compress the organ...

Female adnexal tumor of probable Wolffian origin (FATWO) is a rare neoplasm arising from the remnants of the mesonephric duct. We report here a case of FATWO in a 70-year-old woman arising from the broad ligament and confirmed on immunohistochemistry. Most of these tumors behave in a benign fashion but certain histological features like hypercellularity, cellular pleomorphism and nuclear atypia...

The genes encoding the ribosomal P-proteins CcP0, CcP1 and CcP2 of Ceratitis capitata were expressed in the conditional P0-null strains W303dGP0 and D67dGP0 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the ribosomes of which contain either standard amounts or are totally deprived of the P1/P2 proteins, respectively. The presence of the CcP0 protein restored cell viability but reduced the growth rate. In the W3...

Calcified broad ligament leiomyoma is a rare benign lesion in postmenopausal age group. It causes diagnostic confusion with solid calcified adnexal mass and large bladder calculi at the pelvic region. Clinical and radiological diagnoses were confirmed by histopathology of the hysterectomy specimen. We hereby present a case of heavily calcified broad ligament fibroid in a postmenopausal woman.

Isolated torsion of the fallopian tube without ovarian involvement and associated pathology is a rare event. We report an 18-year-old single female who presented with acute lower abdominal pain during menstruation after a minor trauma of the pelvis. It was diagnosed as isolated torsion of normal right tube during laparatomy due to herniation of the tube through a tear in the broad ligament.

In the year 1864 Frankenhauser, in dealing with the nerve supply to the uterus, first described the plexus which now bears his name. It is, as is of course well known, a sympathetic plexus lying lateral to, and on each side of the uterus, and enveloped by the broad ligament. Two large ganglia are present, a right and a left, the ganglia cervicalia uteri. Until recently these ganglia have attrac...

The possibility of separating ascites tumor cells with different numbers of chromo somes by means of counter-streaming centrifugation has been studied with the hy perdiploid Ehnlich ascites tumor (ELD) and its hypertetraploid offshoot (ELT). From ELD a fraction significantly higher in deoxyribonucleic acid phosphorus (DNAP) per cell than the unfractionated suspension was obtained. Inoculated in...
