PURPOSE We assessed the long-term efficacy, complications and patient perceptions of microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord in the treatment of chronic orchialgia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord was performed on 95 testicular units in 79 men (mean age 40.3 years, mean duration of pain 62 months, 16 bilateral) for chronic orchialgia. Conservative...

BACKGROUND Congenital absence of the vas deferens is an important cause of obstructive azoospermia, and the lack of an imaging diagnostic test is a critical problem. The aim of this study is to discuss the use of ultrasonography in congenital absence of vas deferens, including dysplasia of the epididymis and the seminal vesical. MATERIAL AND METHODS Five fresh spermatic cord specimens were dete...

Inguinal orchiopexy is a common operation performed for undescended testis. Several surgical techniques have been described to mobilize the spermatic cord and optimize the position of the testis in the scrotum. We demonstrate a novel adjunct surgical maneuver which includes stripping the distal peritoneal investments of the spermatic cord to achieve additional length in cases when dependent scr...

BACKGROUND Spermatic cord neoplasms are a rare tumor entity and, moreover, of benign behavior. Malignant tumors of the spermatic cord are mostly of mesenchymal origin. We present the unusual case of a giant malignant mesenchymoma of the spermatic cord with bidirectional differentiation into a liposarcoma and a leiomyosarcoma. CASE REPORT A 84-year-old male patient presented with a scrotal mas...

An extratesticular scrotal epidermoid cyst is a relatively very rare condition, and an epidermoid cyst arising from the spermatic cord area is extremely rare. We report a case of multiple epidermoid cysts arising from the extratesticular scrotum, spermatic cord, and lower extremities. To our best knowledge, concomitant occurrence of these lesions has not been reported previously in the literature.

Arteriovenous malformations of the lower urinary tract are uncommon lesions, usually presenting as scrotal masses. A case of recurrent acute scrotal pain mimicking testicular torsion that was attributed to the presence of an arteriovenous malformation of the spermatic cord is described. To our knowledge this is the first reported case of an arteriovenous malformation of the spermatic cord prese...

Duplication of vas deferens is a rare congenital anomaly. All previously reported cases of this rare anomaly were identified during procedures such as orchiepexy, inguinal hernia repair, vasectomy, varicocoelectomy, and radical prostatectomy. Here, we report a case of unilateral duplicated vas deferens noted in an adult cadaver during regular dissection for medical students. The right spermatic...

BACKGROUND Performing spermatic cord block for scrotal surgery avoids the potential risks of neuraxial and general anaesthesia and provides long-lasting postoperative analgesia. A blindly performed block is often inefficient and bears its own potential risks (intravascular injection of local anaesthetics, haematoma formation and perforation of the deferent duct). The use of ultrasound may help ...

Spermatic cord liposarcomas are very rare tumors. Patients usually present with painless growing scrotal swellings which are clinically misdiagnosed as hernia. The correct diagnosis is not common and usually they present as operative or histological surprises. To our knowledge, there are about 186 similar cases reported in the literature. Herein we report three cases of spermatic cord li...
