The magnetic vortex core in a nanodot can be switched by an alternating transversal magnetic field. We propose a simple collective coordinate model, which describes the comprehensive vortex core dynamics, including the resonant behavior, weakly nonlinear regimes, and reversal dynamics. A chaotic dynamics of the vortex polarity is predicted. All analytical results are confirmed by micromagnetic ...
We report on measurement of momentum transfer to an atomic sodium beam by a standingwave laser field. Experiments were performed in two regimes: 1) the regime in which spontaneous emission is negligible; and 2) the regime in which the effects of spontaneous decay dominate the momentum transfer process. In the first regime, we observe diffraction of the atomic beam: the near-resonant Kapitza-Dir...
We demonstrate experimentally the existence of competing focusing and defocusing nonlinearities in a double-resonant system with quadratic nonlinear response. We use an array of periodically poled coupled optical waveguides and observe inhibition of the nonlinear beam self-action independent on power. This inhibition is demonstrated in both regimes of normal and anomalous beam diffraction.
Conditions for strong first-order phase transition and generation of observable gravitational wave (GW) signals are very restrictive to the profile Higgs potential. Working in minimal extension SM with a new gauge singlet real scalar, we show that production relevant future GW experiments, such as LISA, can favor depleted resonant non-resonant di-Higgs rates at colliders phenomenologically regi...
Abstract This paper investigates the dynamics of a Duffing oscillator excited by an unbalanced motor. The interaction between motor and vibrating system is considered as nonideal, which means that excitation provided can be influenced response, case in general for real systems. constitutes important difference with respect to classical (ideally excited) oscillator, where amplitude frequency ext...
Even though wave run-up is not a new subject, until recently analytical and numerical studies of long wave run-up on a plane beach have failed to identify the existence of resonant regimes. Furthermore, it was a common belief that the leading wave will result in the maximum runup. Stefanakis et al. (2011) underlined the importance of resonant long wave interactions during run-up and run-down. I...
Motivated by the rich variety of complex periodic and quasi-periodic patterns found in systems such as two-frequency forced Faraday waves, we study the interaction of two spatially periodic modes that are nearly resonant. Within the framework of two coupled one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equations we investigate analytically the stability of the periodic solutions to general perturbations, inc...
We show that the covariance function of a second-order stationary vector Markov regime switching time series has a vector ARMA(p; q) representation, where upper bounds for p and q are elementary functions of the number of regimes. These bounds apply to vector Markov regime switching processes with both mean-variance and autoregressive switching. This result yields an easily computed method for ...
Realistic large-scale networks display a heterogeneous distribution of connectivity weights that might also randomly vary in time. We show that, depending on the level of heterogeneity in the connectivity coefficients, different qualitative macroscopic and microscopic regimes emerge. We evidence, in particular, generic transitions from stationary to perfectly periodic phase-locked regimes as th...
