Dimension-independent Harnack inequalities are derived for a class of subordinate semigroups. In particular, for a diffusion satisfying the BakryEmery curvature condition, the subordinate semigroup with power α satisfies a dimension-free Harnack inequality provided α ∈ ` 1 2 , 1 ́ , and it satisfies the log-Harnack inequality for all α ∈ (0, 1). Some infinite-dimensional examples are also presen...

A new notion of partition-determined functions is introduced, and several basic inequalities are developed for the entropy of such functions of independent random variables, as well as for cardinalities of compound sets obtained using these functions. Here a compound set means a set obtained by varying each argument of a function of several variables over a set associated with that argument, wh...

‎Universally prestarlike functions of order $alphaleq 1$ in the‎ ‎slit domain $Lambda=mathbb{C}setminus [1,infty)$ have been‎ ‎recently introduced by S‎. ‎Ruscheweyh.This notion generalizes the‎ ‎corresponding one for functions in the unit disk $Delta$ (and‎ ‎other circular domains in $mathbb{C}$)‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we obtain‎ ‎the Fekete-Szegö coefficient functional for transforms of such‎ ‎f...

We consider a compact CR manifold with transversal locally free circle action endowed an S1-equivariant positive line bundle. prove that certain weighted Fourier–Szeg? kernel of the sections in high tensor powers admits full asymptotic expansion. As consequence, we establish equivariant Kodaira embedding theorem.

Many Bayesian clinical trial methods are based on random inequalities. For some distribution families, these inequalities can be computed in closed form. For example, [1] gives closed-form solutions to computing P(X > Y) when X and Y are either independent normal or independent gamma random variables. However the case of beta random variables is very important and no closed form solution for th...

The minimizers of the anisotropic fractional isoperimetric inequality with respect to a convex body $ K in \mathbb{R}^n are shown be equivalent star bodies whenever is strictly and unconditional. From this Pólya-Szeg? principle for seminorms derived by using symmetrization bodies.

In IPCO 2002, Letchford and Lodi describe an algorithm for separating simple comb inequalities that runs in O(nm log n) time, where n and m are respectively the number of nodes and arcs in the support graph of the point to be separated. In this extended abstract, we demonstrate that the above algorithm separates over a superclass of simple comb inequalities, which we call simple domino parity i...

The fixed-charge transportation problem is a fixed-charge network flow problem on a bipartite graph. This problem appears as a subproblem in many hard transportation problems, and is also both a special case and a strong relaxation of the challenging bigbucket multi-item lot-sizing problem. In this paper, we provide a polyhedral analysis of the polynomially solvable special case in which the as...

In this work we present an exact separation algorithm for the so called 2-matching inequalities, otherwise known as parity or co-circuit inequalities. The algorithm is quite simple since it operates on the tree of min-cuts of the support graph of the solution to separate, relative to an ad hoc capacity vector. The order of this algorithm is O(|V |).
