background: stroke is the third leading cause of invalidism and death in industrialized countries. there are conflicting reports about the effects of angiotensin ii on ischemia-reperfusion brain injuries and most data have come from chronic hypertensive rats. in this study, hypotensive and non-hypotensive doses of candesartan were used to investigate the effects of angiotensin ii at1 receptor b...

Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a disorder characterized by a sudden attack of severe anterograde amnesia, where patients are unable to learn and recall novel information during the event. Although fi rst described at least 60 years ago, the etiology and pathophysiology of TGA remain unclear and have been a matter of debate among clinicians and researchers. In this paper, we present a case of...

The paper here presented was motivated by a case study involving high-dimensional and high-frequency tidal volume traces measured during induced panic attacks. The focus was to develop a procedure to determine the significance of whether a mean curve dominates another one. The key idea of the suggested method relies on preserving the order in mean while reducing the dimension of the data. The o...

In this work we report the results of observations of Transient Luminous Events above thundersorms, conducted during the STS-107 space shuttle mission, as part of the Mediterranean Israeli Dust Experiment (MEIDEX). We show the high detection rate of various events and describe some significant results that may enhance our understanding of the global occurrence of these transient events.

Stimulation of left ventricular stretch receptors has been proposed as a possible mechanism for the occurrence of cardiac pain. Changes in left ventricular volume were continuously assessed in 12 patients during 11 spontaneous (two painful) and 12 ergometrine-induced (nine painful) ischemic attacks with a precordial scintillation probe and blood pool labeling with technetium-99m. In all ischemi...
