Alcohol (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol and 1-butanol) and water vapor adsorption in zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8, ZIF-71 and ZIF-90) with similar crystal sizes was systematically studied. The feasibility of applying these ZIF materials to the recovery of bio-alcohols is evaluated by estimating the vapor-phase alcohol-water sorption selectivity.
A three dimensional -NH(2) functionalized Zeolitic Tetrazolate Framework (ZTF-1) has been reported. The framework adopts a dia topology (M-L-M angle is close to 156°). ZTF-1 shows high CO(2) (273 K) and H(2) (77 K) uptake due to the presence of the free -NH(2) group and uncoordinated tetrazolate nitrogen.

Zeolitic imidazolate framework-93 (ZIF-93) continuous membranes were synthesized on the inner side of P84 co-polyimide hollow fiber supports by microfluidics. MOFs and polymers showed high compatibility and the membrane exhibited H2-CH4 and CO2-CH4 separation selectivities of 97 (100 °C) and 17 (35 °C), respectively.
A new two-dimensional zeolitic imidazolate framework (named as ZIF-L) was synthesized in zinc salt and 2-methylimidazole (Hmim) aqueous solution at room temperature. ZIF-L (Zn(mim)2·(Hmim)1/2·(H2O)3/2 or C10H16N5O3/2Zn) has unique cushion-shaped cavities and leaf-like crystal morphology, and exhibits excellent CO2 adsorption properties.
For the first time a top-down process was used to control the spatial location of Metal-Organic Frameworks on a surface. Deep X-ray lithography was utilised to micropattern a Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework layer on a sol-gel surface, with exposure hardening the sol-gel by inducing crosslinking while leaving the frameworks intact.
