BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of individual-focused stress management training namely Deep Breathing Exercise (DBE) on self-perceived occupational stress among male automotive assembly-line workers. METHODS A quasi-experimental study was conducted at 2 automotive assembly plants in Malaysia over 9 months, from January 2012 to September 2012. Assembly-line ...

Endoscopic management of malignant biliary obstruction following hepaticojejunostomy can be challenging. With the advent of the short double-balloon endoscope (DBE), therapeutic biliary interventions are possible in surgically altered anatomy [1,2]. Additionally, a novel uncoveredmetal stent (UMS) has been developed with a 200-cm-long, 6-Fr delivery system (Zilver 635; Cook Medical, Winston-Sal...

Several studies have suggested that debranching enzymes (DBEs) are involved in the biosynthesis of amylopectin, the major constituent of starch granules. Our systematic analysis of all DBE mutants of Arabidopsis thaliana demonstrates that when any DBE activity remains, starch granules are still synthesized, albeit with altered amylopectin structure. Quadruple mutants lacking all four DBE protei...

excludes the biliary tract from conven− tional endoscopic retrograde cholangio− pancreatography (ERCP) [1± 3]. However, the 200−cm−long double−balloon entero− scope (DBE) facilitates intubation of the afferent Roux−en−Y limb and maintains its position in front of the biliodigestive anastomosis. The 2.8−mm working chan− nel allows for the introduction of conven− tional accessories, provided they...

Double-balloon endoscopy (DBE) can be used to treat disorders of the small intestine and can also be used to retrieve foreign bodies from the small intestine without surgery. We describe the findings of 22 cases in which DBE was used to try and retrieve foreign bodies from the small intestine. The foreign bodies included 12 capsule endoscopes, 3 artificial teeth, 3 medical tubes, 2 worms, 1 pre...

Since the first article introducing doubleballoon endoscopy (DBE) was published in 2001 [1], the technique has proven effective for deep intubation of the small bowel and is used in clinical practice worldwide. However, the intubation depth is sometimes limited by the distension of the small bowel due to air insufflation during the procedure. In a recent report [2], the total success rate using...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Little is known about the clinical impact of double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) in patients with Peutz- Jeghers syndrome (PJS).The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of DBE in the management of small-bowel polyps in PJS patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a multicentre, retrospective cohort study, which included all consecutive patients diag...

usually with a bidirectional approach, and both tissue acquisition and therapy, including polypectomy, stricture dilation and cauterization, can be performed. Complication rates are reportedly low, and learning curves appear to indicate rapid proficiency. Pioneered in Japan and Europe, there are few North American studies of the utility and safety of DBE in the evaluation of small bowel disease...

DBE is an experimental tool designed for trace driven simulation of processor caches and disk buuers. Trace driven simulation is exible and requires no special hardware, but generating traces can be too slow and the resulting traces too large to handle. To overcome this problem, DBE uses a compile-time trace compaction, which can yield smaller traces and faster run times.

A 46-year-old woman presented with small-bowel obstruction (SBO) 2 months after placement of two Obalon gastric balloons (Obalon Therapeutics, California, USA) for weight loss [1]. A computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed SBO caused by a partially deflated balloon that had migrated into the ileum; the other balloon remained inflated and in situ within the stomach (●" Fig.1 and ●" Fig.2). After...
