Félix-Polydore Boullay (1806-1835), a French chemist, died at the age of 29 from the wounds he suffered from burning ether. In spite of his young age, he made significant contributions to the theory of etherification (under the guidance of Dumas), to the chemistry of double halides, the volume of atoms, ulminic acid, and azulmic acid.

The Soft Gamma Repeater 1806-20 produced patterns of bursts during its 1983 outburst that indicate multiple independent energy accumulation sites, each driven by a continuous power source, with sudden, incomplete releases of the accumulated energy. The strengths of the power sources and their durations of activity vary over several orders of magnitude.

The low energy (< 10 keV) X-ray emission of the Soft Gamma-ray Repeater SGR 1806–20 has been studied by means of four XMM-Newton observations carried out in the last two years, the latter performed in response to a strong sequence of hard X-ray bursts observed on 2004 October 5. The source was caught – 2 – in different states of activity: over the 2003-2004 period the 2-10 keV flux doubled with...

We present the results obtained by INTEGRAL on the Soft-Gamma Ray Repeater SGR 1806–20. In particular we report on the temporal and spectral properties of the bursts detected during a moderately active period of the source in September and October 2003 and on the search for quiescent emission.

A new species of soldier crab (genus Mictyris Latreille, 1806) is described from the Andaman Sea coast of Thailand. Mictyris thailandensis sp. nov. differs morphologically from its described congeners by its pale plain colouring, the differently shaped apex of the male first gonopod, and by chela features. It also has significant genetic divergence (cytochrome oxidase I > or = 11.95%) from othe...

The region of SGR 1806-20 localization was observed during its gamma-ray activity in 2001. The observations have been performed on the 6-meter telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory, using the Panoramic Photometer-Polarimeter (PPP). The search for variability was performed on the 10 10 s time scale, and its results were compared to the properties of corresponding x-ray flares.
