A method for measurement of the nonlinearity parameter B / A of liquids by means of a spherical finite-amplitude photoacoustic pulse is described. The photoacoustic pulse is generated by the laser-induced breakdown mechanism. The relation between B / A and the decrement of rise time of wavefront of the acoustic pulse during its propagation is given. The nonlinearity parameter of water is obtain...

In this demo, we present a technique for synthesizing the mouth movement from acoustic speech information. The algorithm maps the audio parameter set to the visual parameter set using the Gaussian Mixture Model and the Hidden Markov Model. With this technique, we can create smooth and realistic lip movements.

acoustic neuromas (an) are schwann cell-derived tumors that commonly arise from the vestibular portion of the eighth cranial nerve also known as vestibular schwannoma(vs) causes unilateral hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo and unsteadiness. in many cases, the tumor size may remain unchanged for many years following diagnosis, which is typically made by mri. in the majority of cases the tumor is s...

This paper investigates photoacoustic tomography with two spatially varying acoustic parameters, the compressibility and the density. We consider the reconstruction of the absorption density parameter (imaging parameter of Photoacoustics) with complete and partial measurement data. We investigate and analyze three different numerical methods for solving the imaging problem and compare the results.

Acoustic-to-articulatory inversion is useful for a range of related research areas including language learning, speech production, speech coding, speech recognition and speech synthesis. HMM-based generative modelling methods and DNNbased approaches have become dominant approaches in recent years. In this paper, a novel acoustic-to-articulatory inversion technique based on generalized variable ...

This paper describes an approach to match visual and acoustic parameters to produce an animated musical expression. Music may be generated to correspond to animation, as described here; imagery may be created to correspond to music; or both may be developed simultaneously. This approach is intended to provide new tools to facilitate both collaboration between visual artists and musicians and ex...

Propagation of sound from a source to a receiver in an enclosure can be modeled as an acoustic transmission channel. Objective room acoustic parameters are routinely used to quantify properties of such channels in the design and assessment of acoustically critical spaces such as concert halls, theatres and recording studios. Traditionally, room acoustic parameters are measured using artificial ...

This paper investigates the effectiveness of the DAEM (Deterministic Annealing EM) algorithm in acoustic modeling for speaker and speech recognition. Although the EM algorithm has been widely used to approximate the ML estimates, it has the problem of initialization dependence. To relax this problem, the DAEM algorithm has been proposed and confirmed the effectiveness in small tasks. In this pa...

A new method, employing machine learning techniques and a modified low frequency envelope spectrum estimator, for estimating important room acoustic parameters including Reverberation Time (RT) and Early Decay Time (EDT) from received music signals has been developed. It overcomes drawbacks found in applying music signals directly to the envelope spectrum detector developed for the estimation o...

As an effort to make prosody useful in spontaneous speech recognition, we adopt a quasi-continuous prosodic annotation and accordingly design a prosody-dependent acoustic model to improve ASR performances. We propose a variable-parameter Hidden Markov Models, modeling the mean vector as a function of the prosody variable through a polynomial regression model. The prosodically-adapted acoustic m...
