This paper presents a new fusion scheme for enhancing the result quality based on the combination of multiple different detectors. We present a study showing the fusion of multiple video analysis detectors like “detecting unattended luggage” in video sequences. One of the problems is the time jitter between different detectors, i.e. typically one system can trigger an event several seconds befo...

We present measurements of the depth of maximum for extensive air showers (EAS) produced by cosmic ray nuclei with energies above 10eV. The air showers were observed using the University of Utah's Fly's Eye detectors operating in stereo mode. The data show an elongation rate of 69 ± 5 g/ cm per decade above 10eV before correction for triggering and resolution effects. These effects contribute a...

High sensitivity detectors for radon in air and in water have been developed. We use electrostatic collection and a PIN photodiode for these detectors. Calibration systems have been also constructed to obtain collection factors. As a result of the calibration study, the absolute humidity dependence of the radon detector for air is clearly observed in the region less than about 1.6 g/m3. The cal...

The energy spectrum of cosmic rays in the range E ∼ 1015 eV to 6 × 1019 eV has been studied using the air Cherenkov light detectors of the Yakutsk array. The total flux of photons produced by relativistic electrons (including positrons as well, hereafter) of extensive air showers in the atmosphere is used as the energy estimator of the primary particle initiating a shower. The resultant differe...

The possibility to combine the track-etched CR-39 or Makrofol detectors with charcoal to increase the detector sensitivity was shown in the last years. Special requests are necessary in the case of a personal dosimeter when the detector must be active only during working activity. Regarding the combination of charcoal with TL detectors our preliminary investigations indicate that the TLD intens...

The hadronic interaction model BBL implements the ideas of gluon saturation due to large densities. When approaching the black body limit at high energies, leading partons acquire large transverse momenta which breaks up their coherence. This leads to a suppression of forward scattering, and is therefore important for air showers. We discuss some general aspects of this new approach and their i...

Background:Consequences of air pollution on the health effects, including the formation and aggravation of respiratory ,neurological and cardiovascular disease, caused air quality monitoring and control as something inevitable in most urban & industrial areas issue that should be raised at national level. Industries are among important pollutant factors of the environment that contaminate thei...

polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (pahs) are toxic pollutants released by various urban combustion sources. tehran is the largest city in iran with a population of about 8 million and it is faced with serious air quality problems. the gas phase samples collected from 21 sites in tehran area throughout year 2005. the samples‘ pahs were collected using a skc trapping consisting of glass cartridg...

Measurements are reported of the yield and spectrum of fluorescence, excited by a 28.5 GeV electron beam, in air at a range of pressures of interest to ultrahigh energy cosmic ray detectors. The wavelength range was 300 420 nm. System calibration has been performed using Rayleigh scattering of a nitrogen laser beam. In atmospheric pressure dry air at 304 K the yield is 20.8 ± 1.6 photons per MeV.

Accurate knowledge of x-ray mass attenuation coefficients is essential for studies as diverse as atomic physics, materials science, and radiation safety. However, a significant discrepancy exists between theoretical tabulated results for air at soft x-ray energies. We outline a precision measurement of the mass attenuation coefficients for air at various energies using two types of detectors an...
