The presence of the heterogeneous mesoporous Al-MCM-41 catalyst remarkably accelerated the cyanosilylation of various aldehydes and ketones with trialkylsilyl cyanide, giving the corresponding cyanohydrin silyl ethers in quantitative yields under mild reaction conditions.

Highly dispersed Co particles in MCM-41 were prepared by direct addition of CoCIz to the synthesis gel. The small clusters of Co did not sinter during reduction and sulfidation. Incorporation of Co into the MCM-41 lattice was not observed. The addition of Co to the synthesis gel did not alter the structural characteristics of the MCM-41 samples.

A novel MCM-41-supported base catalyst, Ba-MCM-41, was synthesized with a modified impregnation method. Ba2SiO4 was synthesized on the MCM-41 pore wall as confirmed by characterization using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence, N2 adsorption, Si MAS NMR and transmission electron microscopy. It was also demonstrated that a highly ordered Ba-MCM-41 catalyst wit...

A Mobil Composition of Matter (MCM)-41 type mesoporous silica material containing N-propylacridone groups has been successfully prepared by co-condensation of an appropriate organic precursor with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) under alkaline sol-gel conditions. The resulting material was fully characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), N(2)-adsorption-desorption, transmission electron...

The design and characterization of a new family of multifunctional scaffolds based on bioactive glass (BG) of 45S5 composition for bone tissue engineering and drug delivery applications are presented. These BG-based scaffolds are developed via a replication method of polyurethane packaging foam. In order to increase the therapeutic functionality, the scaffolds were coated with mesoporous silica...
