Electrooxidation of methanol was realised on platinum and perchlorate anion doped polypyrrole film electrodes in acidic media. A systematic kinetic investigation was performed and optimum experimental conditions for the preparation of the electrocatalytic system were determined. The presence of ClO4 − anions was confirmed by XPS analysis of the doped polymer matrix. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V....
A novel and efficient approach to 3-allyl-chromones from alkynones and allylic alcohols via a tandem Michael addition-Claisen rearrangement-O-arylation reaction has been developed. Diversely structural 3-allyl-chromones were afforded in up to 93% yield for 24 examples. This synthetic strategy is regiospecific, highly efficient, environment friendly and metal-free.
Monodisperse trimetallic AuCuSn nanocubes are reported where Sn and Cu are inserted into the crystal lattice following co-precipitation protocols along with Au. These trimetallics are explored further towards catalytic hydrazine electrooxidation and their enhanced catalytic activity compared with their bimetallic counterpart AuCu is reported.
Pd@N-doped carbon (Pd@CN) exhibited four and two times higher peak current density toward ethanol electrooxidation than Pd@active carbon and Pd@non-nitrogen carbon. Controlled experimental results indicated that the incorporation of nitrogen into the carbon matrix improved the percentage of Pd(0) and increased the binding energy of Pd in Pd@CN, and accordingly enhanced the catalytic activity.
AuPd/polyaniline was used for the first time, for ethylene glycol (EG) electrooxidation in a novel microfluidic fuel cell (MFC) operated at room temperature. The device exhibits high electrocatalytic performance and stability for the conversion of cheap and fully available EG as fuel.
Pt triambic icosahedral nanocrystals (TIH NCs) enclosed by {771} high-index facets were successfully synthesized electrochemically, for the first time, in ChCl-urea based deep eutectic solvents, and exhibited higher electrocatalytic activity and stability towards ethanol electrooxidation than a commercial Pt black catalyst.
Atomically ordered nickel carbide, Ni3C, was synthesized by reduction of nickel cyclopentadienyl (NiCp2) with sodium naphthalide to form Ni clusters coordinated by Cp (Ni-Cp clusters). Ni-Cp clusters were thermally decomposed to Ni3C nanoparticles smaller than 10 nm. The Ni3C nanoparticles showed better performance than Ni nanoparticles and Au nanoparticles in the electrooxidation of sodium bor...
An efficient synthetic approach that enables not only the control of Pt nanocubes but also the one-pot fabrication of novel Pt nanocube assemblies was developed for the first time. The integration of well-defined building blocks and unique superstructures endows Pt nanocube assemblies with enhanced performance in the methanol electrooxidation, showing a new concept for further enhancing the per...
Ultrafine Pt nanoparticles supported on a robust 3D N-doped porous graphene (PtNP/R-3DNG) composite are fabricated. The composite exhibits a considerable enhancement of activity and stability toward the methanol electrooxidation reaction. The robust 3D porous structure and abundant nitrogen atoms are believed to be responsible for the enhanced performance.
the catalytic air oxidation-trimerization of alcohols was carried out with hetropolyacids. in the presence of hetropolyacid formation of cyclotrimers of alcohols and aldol condensation products was observed. the 1,3,5-trioxanes were major and aldol condensation compounds were minor products.
