Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a primary cause of opportunistic infections. We have sequenced and annotated the genomes of two P. aeruginosa clinical isolates evidencing different antibiotic susceptibilities. Registered differences in the composition of their accessory genomes may provide clues on P. aeruginosa strategies to thrive in different environments like infection loci.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates harboring acquired drug-resistant genes lead to increased mortality. Here, we have sequenced and annotated the genomes of two multidrug-resistant (MDR) P. aeruginosa isolates and a susceptible P. aeruginosa clinical isolate evidencing divergent antibiotic susceptibilities. Genomic analysis showed insight on the different genomic strategies adapted by P. aeruginos...
Antibiotic susceptibility testing of 70 pediatric Helicobacter pylori isolates was performed by using screening agar and disk diffusion methods. Resistance to metronidazole and tinidazole was 72 to 79% and 71 to 81% by modified disk diffusion and 77% and 78% by screening agar, respectively. Susceptibilities to amoxicillin, ampicillin, clarithromycin, tetracycline, erythromycin, and ciprofloxaci...
IN vitro susceptibilities of 98 isolates of Brucella melitensis to N-formimidoyl thienamycin, tetracycline, co-trimoxazole, rifampin, and cefoxitin were determined. N-Formimidoyl thienamycin showed good activity which was similar to those of tetracycline and rifampin and different from that of the other beta-lactam antibiotic tested (cefoxitin), which showed poor activity. Co-trimoxazole showed...
Emergence of resistance among pathogenic bacteria against available antibiotics is posing a great challenge to the current world. Thus, there is a great need to discover novel antibiotics. Traditional plants have been proved to be novel source in the search of antimicrobial compounds. The current study pertained to the susceptibilities of some clinically significant bacterial species to various...

A total of 100 Streptococcus pneumoniae strains with various penicillin G susceptibilities, isolated in Barcelona, Spain, from different pediatric sources during 1983 and the first 4 months of 1984, were tested for susceptibility to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, clindamycin, vancomycin, and rifampin. The isolates were distributed in nine patterns of antibiotic resistance, and 15 ...
We investigated the antibiotic susceptibility of glycopeptide-resistant enterococci (GRE). Seventy consecutive GRE were tested. Sixty-two isolates were identified as Enterococcus faecium (88.6%), and 8 (11.4%) as Enterococcus faecalis. All strains were susceptible to linezolid and daptomycin, while 17.1% (12/70) and 11.4% (8/70) were resistant to quinupristin/dalfopristin (QD) and tigecycline, ...
