The structure and T cell stimulatory effects of the recently discovered cytokine IL-23 are similar to, but distinct from, those of IL-12. Although the antitumor activities of IL-12 are well characterized, the effect of IL-23 on tumor growth is not known. In this study, murine CT26 colon adenocarcinoma and B16F1 melanoma cells were engineered using retroviral vectors to release single-chain IL-2...

This review analyzed the literature data on in vitro preclinical study of cytotoxic properties organotin compounds, as well main mechanisms their action. The latter consist interacting with SH groups proteins, initiating oxidative stress, binding to DNA, receptors, activate apoptosis by increasing expression caspases, proapoptotic and decreasing antiapoptotic proteins. Organotin depending donor...

Inverse gene expression profiling was recently shown to help drug repositioning. We showed that this approach works best for cancer and predicted novel drug candidates that may reduce metastasis in colorectal cancer. Antimetastatic activity of our predicted candidate, citalopram, was validated in an orthotopic mouse model of metastatic colorectal cancer.

We have reported that particle-mediated interleukin 12 (IL-12) gene transfer into the skin overlying the local tumor inhibits systemic metastases. To further characterize this effect, we compared the antitumor and antimetastatic effects of IL-12 cDNA delivered at the local tumor site versus at a site distant from the primary tumor, in a spontaneous metastasis model of LLC-F5 tumor. Local IL-12 ...

Integrin-mediated adhesion to the extracellular matrix plays a fundamental role in tumor metastasis. Salvicine, a novel diterpenoid quinone compound identified as a nonintercalative topoisomerase II poison, possesses a broad range of antitumor and antimetastatic activity. Here, the mechanism underlying the antimetastatic capacity of salvicine was investigated by exploring the effect of salvicin...
