Almond green hull, an agriculture solid waste, was chemically treated and used for the adsorption of Co (II) from aqueous solutions. The efficiency of this new adsorbent was studied using batch adsorption technique under different experimental conditions such as sorbent amount, initial metal-ion concentration, contact time, adsorbent particle size, and chemical treatment. Optimum dose of sorben...
The performance of a combined catalyst and sorbent material designed for reforming hydrocarbons was evaluated by reacting methane with steam at different temperatures and pressures in a reactor packed with the material. The combined material was in the form of small spherical pellets comprised of a sorbent core of lime encased in a porous shell made largely of sintered alumina that supported a ...
The measurement of total mercury in flue gas based on an economical aluminum matrix sorbent was developed in this paper. A sorbent trap consisted of three tubes was employed to capture Hg from flue gas. Hg trapped on sorbent was transferred into solution by acid leaching and then detected by CVAAS. Hg adsorbed on sorbent was recovered completely by leaching process. The 87.7% recovery of Hg in ...
Mercury emissions from coal fired power plants are generally measured using one of two methods electronic Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (Hg CEMS) that most commonly use atomic fluorescence, or sorbent traps. Electronic Hg CEMS are often compared against sorbent traps using EPA’s Method 30B Relative Accuracy Test Audit (RATA). Because sorbent traps include mercury contained in the parti...
In the absorption step of the fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorption (FTA-ABS) test (USPHS, 1969) sorbent is used to circumvrent so-called natural antiTreponema pallidum (Tp) reactivity present in a significant proportion of presumed nonsyphilitic individuals (Hunter, Norins, Falcone, and Stout, 1968). It has been postulated that the natural reactivity may be stimulated by nonpathogenic, sa...
Important phenomena were discovered that oxygen-containing expanded graphite an Oxidized OligoGraphene (OOG) obtained after hydrothermic treatment of modified graphite became to be able to interact as sorbent OOG with glycopeptide antibiotics. Introduction. In this work was studied the sorption properties of carbon material as an example of Oxidized OligoGraphene (OOG) concerning glycopeptide a...
INTRODUCTION Alterations in the vocal folds that involve volume reduction and glottal closure failure result in exaggerated air escape during speech. For such situations, the use of implants or grafts of different materials has been proposed. OBJECTIVE To define the effect of sugarcane biopolymer gel when implanted in the vocal folds of rabbits. METHODS This was an experimental study. The v...
The aim of the research work was to isolate biopolymer and to evaluate its emulsifying ability by formulating o/w type of emulsion. The biopolymer was isolated from the fruit pulp of Prunus insititia by treating with water. The aqueous extract was treated with an optimized ratio of dimethyl ketone and kept in refrigeration for 6 hours. The biopolymer was collected by centrifugation, dried and s...
PURPOSE To evaluate the benefit of using carriers such as the biopolymer gel (hidrogel of polysaccharide of sugarcane molasses) associated with the bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP's) in the repair of critical bone defects in calvaria of Wistar rats. METHODS Forty-two rats were submitted to a surgical calvaria bone defects. These animals were divided into two experimental groups, positive con...
Ralstonia sp. strain MD27, a novel biopolymer-degrading betaproteobacterium, was isolated from compost samples. This organism has been shown to utilize the biopolymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] as a carbon source for growth. We report the draft genome sequence of MD27 with an estimated total sequence length of 5.9 Mb.
