The performance of a previously developed analog combining network (ACN) phase shifters for periodic broadcast vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication is investigated. original ACN was designed to maximize the sum signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) $K$ </inl...
The main objective of this chapter is to present to the readers a step-by-step design approach when designing antenna array. Subsequently, the chapter will proceed following an example design of a passive Ku band planner receive array antenna for direct broadcast from satellite (DBS) reception for mobile systems. First, an appropriate antenna topology capable of reaching our target goals will b...
We provide an overview of the extensive recent results on the Shannon capacity of single-user and multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. Although enormous capacity gains have been predicted for such channels, these predictions are based on somewhat unrealistic assumptions about the underlying time-varying channel model and how well it can be tracked at the receiver as well as...

We consider the Gaussian multi-antenna compound broadcast channel where one transmitter transmits several messages, each intended for a different user whose channel realization is arbitrarily chosen from a finite set. Our investigation focuses on the behavior of this channel at high SNRs and we obtain the multiplexing gain of the sum capacity for a number of cases, and point out some implicatio...
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the near field channel in free space. Then this paper validates the theoretical model by comparison to data measured in an open field. The results of this paper are important for low frequency RF systems, such as those operating at short range in the AM broadcast band. Finally this paper establishes a novel fundamental limit for antenna gain versus ...
A fading broadcast channel is considered where the transmitter employs two antennas and each of the two receivers employs a single receive antenna. It is demonstrated that even if the realization of the fading is precisely known to the receivers, the high signal-to-noise (SNR) throughput is greatly reduced if, rather than knowing the fading realization precisely, the trasmitter only knows the f...
in this paper a new low profile substrate integrated waveguide (siw) probe-fed h-plane horn antenna structure with improved gain is proposed. the proposed antenna consists of two waveguides including a rectangular and a taper one, in which both, first and third modes of the structure are simultaneously excited leading to a uniform field distribution along the radiating aperture of the antenna a...
DRM+ is a new system for digital boadcasting in the FM band which is going to be specified in the near future. Due to its narrowband nature, flat fading is a severe problem for that system. To reduce this difficulty, one may use transmit antenna diversity. We discuss two different approaches and their practical use for the system under consideration.
