A growing and important area of Model-Based Development (MBD) is model evolution. Despite this, very little research on the evolution of Simulink models has been conducted. This is in contrast to the notable amount of research on UML models, which di↵er significantly from Simulink. Code clones and their evolution across system versions have been used to learn about source-code evolution. We pos...

This paper formalises and compares two different styles of reasoning with inductively defined predicates, each style being encapsulated by a corresponding sequent calculus proof system. The first system, LKID, supports traditional proof by induction, with induction rules formulated as rules for introducing inductively defined predicates on the left of sequents. We show LKID to be cut-free compl...

Induction-induction is a principle for mutually defining data types A ∶ Set and B ∶ A→ Set. Both A and B are defined inductively, and the constructors for A can refer to B and vice versa. In addition, the constructor for B can refer to the constructor for A. Induction-induction occurs in a natural way when formalising dependent type theory in type theory. We give some examples of inductive-indu...

I Definition and Mathematical Practice The basic observation structuring this survey is that mathematicians often set finding the “right” / “proper” / “correct” / “natural” definition as a research objective, and success finding “the proper” definition can be counted as a significant advance in knowledge. Remarks like these from a retrospective on twentieth century algebraic geometry are common:

We propose a concise definition of the skew angle of document, based on mathematical morphology. This definition has the advantages to be applicable both for binary and grey-scale images. We then discuss various possible implementations of this definition, and show that results we obtain are comparable to those of other existing algorithms.

The efficiency of a thermodynamic system is a key quantity on which its usefulness and wider application relies. This is especially true for a device that operates with marginal energy sources and close to ambient temperatures. Various definitions of efficiency are available, each of which reveals a certain performance characteristic of a device. Of these, some consider only the thermodynamic c...

This paper presents a friendly visual tool for HAP, a ruleconfigurable planning system, which automatically adapts to each problem, in order to achieve best performance. HAP analyzes the problem and uses a rule system in order to configure the planning parameters in a way that best suites the morphology of the problem. The visual tool enables the user to use the planning system, get advice from...

Cognitive theories of 3D shape decomposition have posited simple volumetric primitives (Geon Structural Description or GSD). In this work, we adapt these Geon models for 3D holistic shape design and present a methodology for evaluating holistic aspects of 3D shape, such as aesthetics, via user-interactive optimisation. The conceptual design space is defined through a set of constraints on the p...

The coordination of two-echelons supply chain by buyback contract under the imperfect product quality and fuzzy demand environment is investigated in this paper. The mathematical models are built based on credibility theory, and the optimal parameters of buyback contract are obtained. In addition, the influence of the imperfect product rate on the parameters of buyback contract is analyzed. Fin...

The design process of a superconducting current limiter (SFCL) requires simulation and definition of its electrical, magnetic and thermal properties in form of equivalent circuits and mathematical models. However, any change in SFCL parameters: dimension, resistance, and operating temperature can affect the limiting mode, quench time, and restore time. In this paper, following the simulation of...
