In this paper, a low noise high gain CMOS amplifier for minute nerve signals is presented. By using a mixture of weakand strong inversion transistors, optimal noise suppression in the amplifier is achieved. A continuous-time offsetcompensation technique is utilized in order to minimize impact on the amplifier input nodes. The method for signal recovery from noisy nerve signals is presented. A p...

This report describes the development of a transimpedance amplifier that takes current as input and gives voltage as output. The amplifier consists of three CMOS amplifier stages in a fed-back configuration, achieving a transimpedance gain over 3 kΩ and a 3-dB bandwidth greater than 2.8 GHz. The amplifier operates with a 1.5 V supply voltage and a power budget of 30 mW.

In this paper, a CMOS low power amplifier based on a high-quality active inductor and implemented by using 0.25-μm 1P5M CMOS standard technology is presented. The amplifier achieves power gain (S21) of 18dB within the -3dB cutoff frequency, bandwidth of 1.3GHz, and power consumption of 18mW under 2.5V power supply in 188 × 174μm silicon area. The input third-order intercept point (IIP3) and the...

An intermediate frequency (IF) variable gain amplifier (VGA) with exponential gain control for a radio receiver is fabricated in 0.25-μm CMOS technology. The techniques to improve the bandwidth and to reduce temperature dependence of gain are described. The complete VGA is composed of two stages of linearized transconductance VGA and three stages of fixed gain amplifier (FGA). The complete VGA ...

Process variation is an obstacle in designing reliable CMOS mixed signal systems with high yield. To minimize the variation in voltage gain due to variations in process, supply voltage, and temperature for common trans conductance-based amplifiers, we present a new compensation method based on statistical feedback of process information. We further apply our scheme to two well known amplifier t...

This paper describes a high-speed, robust, scalable, and low-cost feed-forward time amplifier that uses phase detectors and variable delay lines. The amplifier works by detecting the time difference between two rising input edges with a phase detector and adjusting the delay of the variable delay line accordingly. A test chip was designed and fabricated in 65 nm CMOS. The measured resulting per...

A 70-GHz broadband amplifier is realized in a 0.13-μm CMOS technology. By using five cascaded commonsource stages with the proposed asymmetric transformer peaking technique, the measured bandwidth and gain can reach 70.6 GHz and 10.3 dB respectively under a power consumption (PDC) of 79.5 mW. With miniaturized transformer design, the core area of the circuit is only ~ 0.05 mm. Compared with the...

This paper describes a method of extending the signal frequency bandwidth while increasing the stability of a CMOS transimpedance amplifier (TIA). The TIA consists of three inverting amplifiers in a series, and a high-pass filter plus a non-inverting amplifier that are connected to the last two inverting amplifiers stated above in parallel. The TIA is fabricated using a 0.35 μm CMOS process and...
