∗ Corresponding author Abstract -This exploratory study examined the possibility of driving a fluorescent lamp at high frequency with no serially connected passive elements. The proposed driver is a full bridge stage controlled by the phase shifted PWM scheme. Current feedback was used to stabilize the average of the rectified lamp current to a set value. The experimental results of this resear...

This paper presents electronic ballast with dimming capability supplying a 32 W fluorescent lamp. The electronic ballast is a self-oscillating driving circuit with an additional circuit responsible for dimming the fluorescent lamp based on a signal from a lighting dependent resistor. This luminous sensor measures the luminous flux level and set the lamp power by the voltage gain variation of th...

Compact fluorescent emergency luminaires present unique challenges. Not only must the emergency gear and ballast be crammed into small confines of the luminaire but there is the additional problem of excessive temperature to deal with. This paper describes the design of an optimal electronic ballast/emergency control unit specifically aimed at the South African market where the traditional swit...

Background and aims: Compact fluorescent lamps(CFLs) are low-pressure mercury vapor lamps, which are more useful than other light sources. Some studies reported the leakage of UV radiation from CFLs. The aim of this study was measuring of ultraviolet radiation from universal compact fluorescent lamps in Iran. Methods: In this study, measuring of UV radiation of 54 bulb compact fluorescent lamps...

BACKGROUND Special blue tube lights of standard length are used in most neonatal units to deliver phototherapy. Of late, special blue compact fluorescent lamp phototherapy equipments have been introduced in India, which are claimed to be better than standard tube lights. AIM To compare special blue compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) phototherapy with special blue standard-length tube lights (STL)...

UNLABELLED Legislation in many countries has banned inefficient household lighting. Consequently, classic incandescent lamps have to be replaced by more efficient alternatives such as halogen and compact fluorescent lamps (CFL). Alternatives differ in their spectral power distributions, implying colour-rendering differences. Participants performed a colour discrimination task - the Farnsworth-M...

The UV-excited flat lighting (UFL) technique differs from conventional fluorescent lamp or LED illumination. It involves using a remote phosphor film to convert the wavelength of UV light to visible light, achieving high brightness and planar and uniform illumination. In particular, UFL can accomplish compact size, low power consumption, and symmetrical dual-sided illumination. Additionally, UF...

A SPICE-compatible simulation methodology for analyzing open– and closed-loop high-frequency electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamp was developed. The proposed procedure applies envelope simulation and makes use of the SPICE-compatible model of a fluorescent lamp. Experimental results validate the reliability of proposed simulation method.
