Regional mechanical and electrophysiological changes accompany most ventricular arrhythmias and, it has been suggested, by mechanoelectric feedback. We hypothesized that an intervention producing regional mechanical dispersion was associated with regional, proarrhythmic electrical dispersion and studied the regional mechanoelectric feedback in the right ventricle (RV) of anesthetized lambs. Ten...

The comparison between the dispersion tolerance of DB and QDB for B2B transmission was done. The dispersion tolerance for DB modulation format gives better performances than the QDB format. Simulation for Duo-binary transmission and Quaternary transmission in nonlinear regime was done, were DB transmission gives the best performance while the better for 100km fiber length.

An ultrahigh-bandwidth point-to-point communications system based on white-light sources, pulse shapers, and interferometric receivers is proposed. Dispersion compensation by interferometric receivers is described and demonstrated. Linear dispersion-limited communications bandwidths are shown to scale with the square root of the data packet length.

We show, using nonlinearity management, that the optimal performance in high-bit-rate dispersion-managed fiber systems with hybrid amplification is achieved for a specific amplifier spacing that is different from the asymptotically vanishing length corresponding to ideally distributed amplification [Opt. Lett. 15, 1064 (1990)]. In particular, we prove the existence of a nontrivial optimal span ...

Abstrucf-A new all-fiber interferometric method for chromatic dispersion measurements in meter-length single-mode fibers is presented. In a Michelson setup a reference fiber is used whose physical length is varied so as to obtain an adjustable optical delay. Time resolution, ease of manipulation, and mechanical isolation are considerably improved with respect to conventional interferometers. Re...

Abstract: The meteorological preprocessor used routinely at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has been modified in order to better represent urban conditions. We have re-evaluated the roughness length, introduced the zero-displacement height and divided the surface layer into a roughness sublayer and an inertial sublayer. The friction velocity and Monin-Obukhov length are evaluated usi...

Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (O-OFDM) is now used by a number of researchers because it provides major advantages in mitigating Group-Velocity Dispersion (GVD) in Single Mode Fiber (SMF). Unfortunately, when the uncompensated long-haul transmission ranges become very large, substantial dispersion is accumulated. Due to the large accumulated dispersion, the Cyclic Prefix (C...

We report transmission of 60-fs and 245-fs pulses, respectively, over 42-m and 2.5-km fiber links which consist of standard single-mode fibers (SMF) concatenated with dispersion-compensating fibers (DCF). The experiments using very short pulses ( 60 fs) over a short fiber length ( 42 m) demonstrate the ability to achieve simultaneous dispersion and dispersion slope compensation using this techn...

In this paper, design of the RII triple-clad structure as a dispersion flattened optical fiber including small pulse broadening factor as well as small dispersion and its slope applicable in broadband and fast communication is considered. The proposed optimization technique is based on the Genetic Algorithms (GA) consisting suitable fitness function for each application. The putting forward des...

This paper studies the fundamental limits of the minimum average length of variable-length compression when a nonzero error probability ǫ is tolerated. We give non-asymptotic bounds on the minimum average length in terms of Erokhin’s rate-distortion function and we use those bounds to obtain a Gaussian approximation on the speed of approach to the limit which is quite accurate for all but small...
