Phytoremediation is a method that uses the ability of plants to absorb pollutants in environment both on land and water. This study aims explore duckweed which candidate for phytoremediator. Duckweed small aquatic plant grows very fast. In this study, used Spirodela polyrrhiza cadmium was chosen as model pollutant with concentrations 0.05 0.1 ppm. Cultivation done 7 days. The specific growth ra...
Duckweeds are small, fast growing, and starch- protein-rich aquatic plants expected to be a next generation energy crop an excellent biomaterial for phytoremediation. Despite such importance, very little is known about duckweed–microbe interactions that would key biological factor efficient industrial utilization of duckweeds. Here we first report the duckweed growth promoting ability bacterial...
BACKGROUND Duckweed is considered a promising source of energy due to its high starch content and rapid growth rate. Starch accumulation in duckweed involves complex processes that depend on the balanced expression of genes controlled by various environmental and endogenous factors. Previous studies showed that nitrogen starvation induces a global stress response and results in the accumulation...
Chloroplast DNA of the duckweed Spirodela oligorrhiza, isolated by CsCl gradient centrifugation, was characterized by its buoyant density, guanine + cytosine content, melting behavior, circularity, and contour length. In all these characteristics, chloroplast DNA of S. oligorrhiza is similar to the chloroplast genomes of other higher plants, except that it has a significantly larger size.
Complete Genome Sequence of Exiguobacterium sp. Strain MH3, Isolated from Rhizosphere of Lemna minor
We report the complete genome sequence of Exiguobacterium sp. strain MH3, isolated from the rhizosphere of duckweed. The genome assembly is 3.16 Mb, with a G+C content of 47.24%, and it may provide useful information about plant-microbe interactions and the genetic basis for the tolerance of the strain to various environmental stresses.
The article presents the results of studies a series species identifications genus Lemna (Lemnaceae) conducted in 2019. Duckweed samples were taken from eight localities northern regions Ukraine and identified to using morphological molecular markers (barcoding). A new alien duckweed for Ukraine—lesser (Lemna aequinoctialis Welw.)—was discovered, which this study is devoted. All other belonged ...
Plumatella bushnelli Wood, 2001 is the first reported freshwater bryozoan for Micronesia, and the Guam collections are only the fourth record of this species in the world. In Guam it normally occurs as small colonies on the undersides of duckweed leaves but formed larger colonies on artificial substrate.
The present study evaluates the growth performance and hematological attribute of experimental free-range chicken, Gallus gallus domesticus Linn. (Black Australorp x Barred Plymouth Rock) fed formulated diets fermented non-fermented duckweed meal (Lemna minor Linn.). Three isonitrogenous treatment are prepared: 0% (control), 10% Fermented Duckweed Meal (FDM), (DM) inclusions. Five chickens (mea...
Acinetobacter calcoaceticus strain P23 is a plant growth-promoting bacterium, which was isolated from the surface of duckweed. We report here the draft genome sequence of strain P23. The genome data will serve as a valuable reference for understanding the molecular mechanism of plant growth promotion in aquatic plants.
