Eleven dogs with spontaneous neoplasms were Intensively treated with an ¡mmunoadsorption system consisting of a contin uous flow centrifuge, Protein A-Sepharose columns, and a semi automatic elution system. Despite consistent and substantial lowering of immunoglobulin G levels, tumor regression was noted in only one of 11 dogs. In contrast, infusion of small volumes of plasma after incubation ...

We present a supersymmetric SU(5) GUT model with a discrete non-Abelian flavor symmetry that is broken by Wilson lines. The model is formulated in 4+3 dimensions compactified on a manifold S3/Zn. Symmetry breaking by Wilson lines is topological and allows to realize the necessary flavor symmetry breaking without a vacuum alignment mechanism. The model predicts the hierarchical pattern of charge...

We propose to induce QCD by fermions in the adjoint representation of the gauge group SU(Nc) on the lattice. We consider various types of lattice fermions: chiral, Kogut–Susskind and Wilson ones. Using the mean field method we show that a first order large-N phase transition occurs with decreasing fermion mass. We conclude, therefore, that adjoint fermions induce QCD. We draw the same conclusio...

In the previous papers, we studied the ’t Hooft-Polyakov (TP) monopole configurations in the U(2) gauge theory on the fuzzy 2-sphere, and showed that they have nonzero topological charges in the formalism based on the Ginsparg-Wilson (GW) relation. In this paper, we will show an index theorem in the TP monopole background, which is defined in the projected space, and provide a meaning of the pr...

Let E(n) and T(m) for nonnegative integers n and m denote the Johnson–Wilson and the Ravenel spectra, respectively. Given a spectrum whose E(n)∗–homology is E(n)∗(T(m))/(v1, . . . , vn−1), then each homotopy group of it estimates the order of each homotopy group of LnT(m). We here study the E(n)–based Adams E2 –term of it and present that the determination of the E2 –term is unexpectedly comple...

We show that the Ginsparg-Wilson (GW) relation can play an important role to define chiral structures in finite noncommutative geometries. Employing GW relation, we can prove the index theorem and construct topological invariants even if the system has only finite degrees of freedom. As an example, we consider a gauge theory on a fuzzy two-sphere and give an explicit construction of a noncommut...

We study the transient dynamics occurring in a Wilson–Cowan type model of neuronal populations to explain psychophysical masking e/ects, in which a brie0y presented vernier is followed by a grating of a variable geometrical con1guration. A change in the spatial layout of the stimuli yields dramatic di/erences in the performance of the observers. In our model, these di/erences are explained by v...

We identify the untwisted moduli of heterotic orbifold compactiications for the case, when the gauge twist is realized by a rotation. The Wilson lines are found to have both continuous and discrete parts. For the case of the standard Z 3 orbifold we classify all possibilities of breaking the gauge group E(6)SU(3) by nine of the eighteen Wilson moduli and by additional discrete Wilson lines.
