Abstract Microbial conversion of CO 2 and into chemicals is a promising route that can contribute to the cost-effective reduction anthropogenic green house waste gas emissions create more circular economy. However, biotechnological valorization still restricted by limited number model microorganisms implemented, small profit margin products synthesized. This perspective paper intends explore ge...

Purpose: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is pathologically defined by the presence of amyloid plaques and tangles in the brain, therefore, any drug or compound with potential effect on lowering amyloid plaques, could be noticed for AD management especially in the primary phases of the disease. Ectoine constitutes a group of small molecule chaperones (SMCs). SMCs inhibit proteins and other changeable m...

Chromohalobacter salexigens, a Gammaproteobacterium belonging to the family Halomonadaceae, shows a broad salinity range for growth. Osmoprotection is achieved by the accumulation of compatible solutes either by transport (betaine, choline) or synthesis (mainly ectoine and hydroxyectoine). Ectoines can play additional roles as nutrients and, in the case of hydroxyectoine, in thermotolerance. A ...

Methyloligella halotolerans С2T is a moderate halophilic obligate methylotroph, accumulating ultra-high-molecular-weight poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (up to 8 to 10 MDa) from methanol. Here we report a draft genome and annotation of Methyloligella halotolerans C2T (VKM B-2706T = CCUG 61687T = DSM 25045T).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the stability of lysozyme in aqueous solutions in the presence of various extremolytes (betaine, hydroxyectoine, trehalose, ectoine, and firoin) under different stress conditions. The stability of lysozyme was determined by Nile red Fluorescence Spectroscopy and a bioactivity assay. During heat shock (10 min at 70°C), betaine, trehalose, ectoin and f...

Lack of long-time stability dsDNA-based supramolecular assemblies is an important issue that hinders their applications. In this work, 20 base pairs long dsDNA fragments [(dCdG)20-65 %] composed 65 % dCdG and 35 dAdT nucleotides were tethered via a thiol to the surface gold electrode. The self-assembled (dCdG)20-65 monolayer was immersed in solutions containing ectoine, compatible solute. Elect...

The draft genome sequence of Methylophaga muralis strain Bur 1 (VKM B-3046T), a non-methane-utilizing methylotroph isolated from a soda lake, is reported here. Strain Bur 1 possesses genes for methanol and methylamine (methylamine dehydrogenase and N-methylglutamate pathway) oxidation. Genes for the biosynthesis of ectoine were also found.
