MOTIVATION Cells receive a wide variety of environmental signals, which are often processed combinatorially to generate specific genetic responses. Changes in transcript levels, as observed across different environmental conditions, can, to a large extent, be attributed to changes in the activity of transcription factors (TFs). However, in unraveling these transcription regulation networks, the...

Fine-scale diversity of natural bacterial assemblages has been attributed to neutral radiation because correspondence between bacterial phylogenetic signals in the natural environment and environmental parameters had not been detected. Evidence that such correspondence occurs is provided for Vibrio cholerae, establishing a critical role for environmental parameters in bacterial diversity.

This paper investigates multiple alternatives to predict environmental parameters (temperature and relative humidity) inside an intelligent container with the aim of the supervision of cool chains. A wireless sensor network will help us to measure those parameters in some distributed points of the closed space. To achieve the aim of fault detection and also total energy saving in the sensor net...

The important developments in industrial fermentation lead to the utilization of microbial enzymes in different applications. Selected organisms Aspergillus fumigatus, A. terreus, Penicillium chrysogenum, P. funiculosum and Fusarium moniliforme. Various environmental parameters like pH, temperature and nutritional parameters such as carbon and nitrogen sources were investigated to optimize the ...

[1] Sea surface height (SSH) measurements from the Geosat satellite altimetry mission are analyzed to statistically characterize their noise process, which is defined here as the small-scale (<50 km), timevarying component of the altimetry data. This analysis is one component of a larger effort to extract meaningful information about seafloor roughness from the small-scale fabric of the altimet...

The DNA present in the environment is a unique and increasingly exploited source of information for conducting fast and standardized biodiversity assessments for any type of organisms. The datasets resulting from these surveys are however rarely compared to the quantitative predictions of biodiversity models. In this study, we simulate neutral taxa-abundance datasets, and artificially noise the...

Pauly (1980. J. Cons. Int. Explor. Mer, 39: 175–192) showed that natural mortality rates in fish could be predicted from body growth parameters and environmental temperature but found no evidence for ecological or taxonomic influences. Using an updated database and techniques that avoid some of the earlier analytical problems, we confirm Pauly’s conclusion that mortality is correlated with grow...

Shemesh, M. and Shore, L.S. 6 INTRODUCTION The present review describes a number of environmentally caused reproductive disorders in domestic animals which we have observed over the last five decades. This is of interest not only for animal husbandry but these environmental hormones may responsible for human health effects as well. However effects of phytoestrogens or other naturally occuring e...

[1] Monthly U.S. tornado numbers are here related to observation-based monthly averaged atmospheric parameters. Poisson regression is used to form an index which captures the climatological spatial distribution and seasonal variation of tornado occurrence, as well as year-to-year variability, and provides a framework for extended range forecasts of tornado activity. Computing the same index wit...

A software release planning can be seen from two dimensions “what to release” and “when to release”. The most crucial decision is whether or not to select a feature for implementation in the next software release. A number of software release planning models are available which considers a wide variety of factors in deciding the implementation of a feature in a release. This paper analyzes 31 re...
