In the process of excavation hydraulic tunnels across fault zone, surrounding rock often lose steady and collapse, which will threaten personal security. this paper, a 3D model was established according to Hami pumped storage power station in Xinjiang. The variation stress, deformation plastic zone under condition full section without support timely after are compares analysis. calculated resul...

We measure the thickness of the heavy water layer trapped under the stress corrosion fracture surface of silica using neutron reflectivity experiments. We show that the penetration depth is 65-85   Å, suggesting the presence of a damaged zone of ∼100   Å extending ahead of the crack tip during its propagation. This estimate of the size of the damaged zone is compatible with other recent results.

The mechanical behaviour and seepage characteristics of coal under the mining engineering disturbance are great significance to prevent gas disasters. Based on geological conditions No. 12 mine China Pingdingshan Mining Group, experiments stress path roadway excavation were carried out. experimental result shows that: in fracture zone is most strongly affected by excavation. samples showed obvi...

During plant development, because no cell movement takes place, control of the timing and extent of cell division and coordination of the direction and extent of cell expansion are particularly important for growth and development. The plant hormone gibberellins (GAs) play key roles in the control of these developmental processes. However, little is known about the molecular components that int...

Research on argillite as a possible host rock for nuclear waste disposal is still an open subject since many issues need to be clarified. In the Underground Research Laboratories constructed for this purpose, a damaged zone around the excavation has been systematically observed and characterized by the appearance of micro-fissures. We analyse here -at nanoscale level- the calcite/clay assembly,...

Excavation damage zones that occur around tunnels usually lead to a change in rock permeability, which has an impact on the water inflow into and even induces inrush disasters. For better understanding of effect excavation zone, analytical solutions consider zone are developed based review modification linings grouting circles. Then, both finite element method applied estimate inflow, results g...

This paper describes a virtual restoration pipeline for the broken glass plates in the fund of the Department of Archaeological, Philological and Historical Studies of Catania University. This archive includes rare images of the excavation activities of the Department in Sicily and Greece. Several of the plates are damaged and fractured and require virtual realignment and restoration. We adapte...

The old Belchen tunnel tubes in the Swiss Jura Mountains were excavated with drill-and-blast swellable sedimentary rocks, i.e., anhydrite-rich marls (Gipskeuper) and Opalinus Clay shale (OPA). Already during construction 1960s both rock formations caused substantial damage to support through high swelling pressures heave, later years had be refurbished again. Important maintenance repair prompt...
